Do you guys think if Romo had played in a WCO rather than the offense he played with us, he would've had a healthier and better career?

No. He wouldn't have made it to a second contract because it wouldn't have showcased his abilities at all.

if he had a better oline, defense early on and refs treating him like brees, manning and brady he might have had a healthier career though.

the scrambling ability he has wouldnt have to be used as much maybe.

seesms the FO messed up not giving him a better support system.

guess this is ultimately a GM issue.

Might not be that big of a difference. Still didn't have the support around him for much of his career. Has some elite players, and then a massive dropoff. Romo is my favorite Cowboy of all time. I'm 29 years old. I want Romo to get a ring more than the Cowboys organization.

The O-line from 2009 to 2012 really hurt Romo. Simple as that. Had nothing to do with the offensive scheme. Was knocked down and sacked too many times in those years.

2009-2012 he was sacked 115 times. He missed most of the 2010 season. I don't know how many times he was knocked down and there's no way to factor in the would be sacks he had to avoid as well in his career.

Quarterbacks pick up the brunt of their injuries late in their career. The older you get, the more difficult it is to heal.

Romo has been injured, with broken bones, three times in his last 91 offensive plays.

The hit wasn't that severe.

Maybe if he didn't hang on to the ball so long it might help too.

These are throws deeper than 15 yards, since 2006 (min 500 att).

Romo 111.5
Brees 106.8
Rodgers 106.6

So, no.

I used to think he would have a better career in a WCO, but now I'm not so sure. His best attribute is the intermediate throws and while I wouldn't call him the most accurate deep ball thrower in terms of placement, he's more or less very effective on deep throws. His worst skill is the short passes.

As far as being healthier, his injuries have come from things like his hand hitting a linemen's helmet, a missed block by a rookie fullback, miscommunication in trying to get the Eagles who were out of position, etc.

What would have helped his career, IMO, is a more experienced HC and O-Coordinator that understood his limitations and his strengths. I think Romo is a bit like Roethlisberger...he works best with a quality run game and commitment to the run. When he starts throwing too many passes, that means he's throwing shorter passes to try and keep the ball moving and it's not his strength. And without a run game and a commitment to the run, his beautiful play action doesn't fool anybody. And I'll say it again...the metrics show he starts to get worse right around his 36th attempt. Obviously, you can't always prevent how many pass attempts we make, but there were plenty of games from 2007-2013 where he threw the ball way too much for no good reason and it didn't play to his strengths.

As far as health goes, he had a relatively healthy career. It's just that he's up there in age and Jerry actually thinks that because he didn't get playing time his first 3 years, that it will carry over to present day. But, the body doesn't work that way.

I think Romo would have been best off in a Shanahan-type offense with a misdirection and lots of intermediate passing off boot action.
