Romo in a WCO

Every decade there is a quarterback (or two) just under the elite quarterbacks and teams have a habit of wasting a decade trying to build a champion around them. That's guys like Bert Jones, John Brodie, Roman Gabriel, Dave Krieg, Jeff Garcia, and Drew Bledsoe. And that's Tony Romo.

It's embarrassing that you lump Romo in with the likes of Dave Krieg and Jeff Garcia. Romo is not just under the elite quarterbacks, he is elite. His teams have been just under (or way under most of the time) the teams of the other elite QBs, however.

Do you guys think if Romo had played in a WCO rather than the offense he played with us, he would've had a healthier and better career?
One of the strengths of the WCO, the slant to WR's, is not a strength of his. He would have had a healthier career getting rid of the ball instead of waiting and trying to make a play out of every play. He would have had a better career if management had been more concerned about putting support around him earlier.

If Romo never plays another down, he had a really good career, considering he was an undrafted free agent. He has almost 250 TDs and 34,000 passing yards. Say he comes back or the Cowboys or another team, maybe he ends up with 300 TDs and 40,000 yards. Just from a numbers standpoint, that looks pretty good.

Quarterbacks pick up the brunt of their injuries late in their career. The older you get, the more difficult it is to heal.

Romo has been injured, with broken bones, three times in his last 91 offensive plays.

The hit wasn't that severe.

The hit was severe as most sports doctors have said. quit repeating false information.

The problem is, Romo played hurt a lot. When you play hurt, your body never heals. When your body never heals, it becomes brittle. Now any major hit he takes will break. This is not a medical opinion because I'm no doctor, but I'm a human being who sort of gone through this before. Don't play hurt, you're only going to suffer later.

if he had a better oline, defense early on and refs treating him like brees, manning and brady he might have had a healthier career though.

the scrambling ability he has wouldnt have to be used as much maybe.

seesms the FO messed up not giving him a better support system.

guess this is ultimately a GM issue.

Umm, nothing else to say? You just like coming in and dropping the microphone...I can appreciate that. but man spot on!

Roman Gabriel- Now your bringing a tear to my eye. Was one of my favorites when I was a young tyke in grade school. Had his autograph and poster. Played the Indian son of John Wayne in the "The Undefeated". One of my favorite westerns. Thanks for that memory!

And not to mention a beautiful wife and family, a couple of bucks in the bank and hopefully a recovering golf game to retire with.
Not a bad life.
