Romo was hot off the bench as backups tend to be sometimes. If he is gameplanned against he will throw another three picks.

So you're saying he's Bledsoe, just younger?

Who cares what Bledsoe did last year. For every Philly there is a Seattle and a Washington.

Bottomline is that he is very easy to gameplan and his QB skills were clearly diminshing even when he had time.

Romo made three mistakes and unfortunately they led to picks. The pick on the screen was horrid, if he hits Crayton in stride its a TD instead of a pick and the last one was tipped. For all that he threw for 2 TDs, took Witten out of hibernation and overall did a much better job spreading the ball around hitting both TEs, 3 WRs and both backs. Bledsoe locked in on Glenn most the time and patted the ball til he got hit.

Bledsoe is a very upstanding guy and a consummate professional and for that I give him a ton of credit but this isnt 1993 and that tooth is way too long.

I don't think it is fair to judge Romo after one half of play. He got into the game playing from behind on national TV. He tried to make something happen for the Cowboys but his inexperience in game situations showed off. If he would have started the game , I think he wouldn't have made the two dumb ints. He wanted to be the savior and really pressed these passes.

I really liked how he spread the ball around. At times it really looked more like the offense I thought we would have at the start of the season

I'm glad you are excited about the Cowboys having a Qb that will be 27 years old and hasn't had as much success in the NFL as Quincy Carter, Danny Wuerful, or Gino Torretta.

i think hes 26 ??

Have to agree with what someone pointed out earlier:

Crayton was in all honestly, probably no higher than 3rd read for Romo on htat TD. Probably a 4th. Romo dropped back, made that read extremely fast, and put it up there

What I seen today was a young man with an AMAZING UPSIDE!...This guy can flat out play. His very first time steping on teh field for a full half and he delivered much needed hope.

His INts were just him trying to make a play. His gun slinger mentality. Those mistakes will bve corrected shortly, trust me...What he showerd us was a mobile QB that can make plays with his feet, Arm and Head...PLus he showed great leadership..

And maybe the biggest thing of all...He allows this offense to function the way it should be... T.O, Witten, Terry, Crayton, Barber, Julius, Oline...

I'm am in th bandwagon..

Goodbye Bledsoe.

We can win 3 games after this..If Romo continues to get better I'll take it.
I'm not in the bandwagon yet. More like hanging on to the bottom of it, a la Harrison Ford in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

:lmao2: but, I believe ROMO may just be the way to go......he is young, mobile, and I enjoy watching him play.

If we lose with ROMO, it will be exciting!

Indeed he did. On that one play Romo went through at least 2 checkdowns to get to his 3rd option (possibly 3 checkdowns) in the same time Drew would have still been staring at TG patting and waiting for him to get open ultimately ending in a sack. I think once Bill looks at some game film the decision will be easy. You leave Romo in to get some quality 1st team snaps and let him gain some timing with the 1st team weapons. Then you turn him loose against Carolina without looking back.

Remember, Kevin Sweeney looked pretty good in his first game as a Cowboy; Steve Pelluer showed tantalizing glimpses; Chad Hutchinson had that one tantalizing, 300-yard game. I refuse to get excited by any Cowboy QB performance until I see it done on a consistent basis.

What do you say to 269 yards passing in 2 quarters? There has to be something positive to be said about that? Everyone is so quick to focus on the negatives. How about letting the guy get some timing with the 1st team?

The same kind of thing that I said to Troy Hambrick racking up the yards as Emmitt's backup: "Hmm, interesting. Wonder if he can do that on a consistent basis (without the 3 ints of course) and with a team game-planning for him. Kinda reminds me of when Kevin Sweeney was being hailed as a potential saviour...."

Most of which came with the Giants playing prevent after being handed a big lead. Congrats.

I saw some things I liked. He spread the ball around, can move in and out of the pocket to set up throws, makes quick decisions, scans the field and occasionally has some backyard magic to him.

We consistently moved the ball with him behind center. That, I liked.

Now, with that said, we did all that with a guy that the defense wasn't preparing for. Will he even show those positives against a team that is preparing for his tendencies?

Obviously, the huge negative is the improvisation, as Parcells said. Occasionally, he hits on those plays. Hence the "backyard magic" comment. But when he doesn't, boy oh boy.

I love his ability to make things happen that aren't there (from what he's shown in limited, limited action). Can he harness that ability though and cut out the mistakes without completely removing his ability to make plays that aren't necessarily there?

I agree the performance ups and downs of Romo last night are leaving big question marks. But they can be answered hopefully positively in the upcoming road games, if Romo gets to start again.

Some things are quite evident though when Romo steps on the field. The opponent has to contend with a more versatile, dangerous quick strike offense. Most of the offense with the exception of the Oline became functional at a higher level.

What we may have is potentially a great quarterback, a superbowl calibre receiving and running backs corps and a flawed mediocre Oline. I understand Romo has been with the Cowboys going on four years, but how much of that has been playing in real time regular season games.

Yes if Romo's good play was not negated by his bad play we would be more clearly optimistic. But is it not a lot to ask of any inexperienced quarterback to come into the middle of his very first non-mopup NFL regular season game and try to take winning control of it, against a proven playoff calibre division rival.

I am more disappointed in the increasingly inconsistent poor performances of a vaunted experienced veteran quarterback than in the foibles of a talented over enthusiastic rookie.

He's been here for 4 years. He was told to "BE READY". He knew he was going into the game. If he is the future, then it doesn't look any brighter than the recent past. Bring on Brady Quinn.

Romo might be the future.

Or he might keep throwing the dumbest INTs in the universe.

After tonight, we really don't know which. But we're gonna find out.

Yeah I hear ya...

The first one... they happen
The 2nd one... just dumb and he can get better at that one
The 3rd one... well, that looked like an INT we have seen thrown from some of the best

I pray that everyone is on board with Romo. Bledsoe was just dragging this team down.

don't you have anything better or simpler to pray for, like say, world peace, feed the poor, save the whales. That should be an easier task for God to resolve than to have everybody on board on the Romo switch.

Please tell me how ready someone can be that has not had the good fortune of taking all 1st team snaps to be afforded the opportunity to get his timing down with the faster 1st teamers. That baffles me. Please elaborate.

Bledsoe has had this fortune for 6 weeks and he still lays eggs. Give Romo a week with the 1st team to get acclimated then let him take a true test against the Panthers. Perhaps I am crazy but that makes perfect sense to me.

Isn't this the same question all the Henson supporters asked following the Bears game? Wasn't his success VS the Ravens chalked up to a soft-zone Defense with a BIG LEAD? It cuts both ways. Only difference being Big Bill believes in Romo and will stick with him, because he was a gem Bill found, not Jerry.

Whatever the case... I hope he sticks with Romo. it will pay dividends. I was never a Henson/Hutch supporter.
