Romo: Lucky or good?

It was absolutely planned that Romo would someday be given the chance to start. In hindsight, it's been said that's why he started that preseason game this summer.

No one "planned" he'd be this good. I'm sure he's a surprise to everyone, in that sense. But it wasn't like the coaching staff didn't even realize he was here and, boom, suddenly they learn he can play the game. He's obviously been carefully tutored for the last three years.

Leave it to the Skins (or their fans) to talk about luck. To them, luck would be dealing away their entire draft for a journeyman/has-been only to see said player be moderately effective in D.C.

I also take satisfaction in knowing that another division rival paid handsomely for Eli Manning. Their trade partner, the Chargers, turned those picks into Rivers, Merriman, Kaeding, and Oben.

Our undrafted free agent is doing just fine, thank you. Their franchise QB? Not so much.

I believe Parcells knew what he was doing and I don't think either the lunatics at ES know what they're doing nor does Commanders management from Shorty Snyder on up. :lmao2:

Life is good.

Right. But what do you expect from fans and a franchise putting their faith and future into a 700 page play book. But yet know knows how to read....including Danny Wonder boy. :laugh2:

Why does anyone here care what a Commander fan thinks?

Evidence is there that we knew Romo was good:

1) Henson gets released.
2) Sean Payton wants Romo in New Orleans. BP and JJ do not trade.
3) Romo plays a LOT in preseason.
4) Romo gets a new deal in preseason to keep him in Dallas longer.
5) Romo gets told that he will start at some point this season.

Is all of this just dumb luck?

Very nicely said. These points in addition to his superb preseason play made me a believer.

Here's what you need to understand about Eagles, Skins and Giants fans.

Just thought I would get all ya'lls opinions on this thread at extreme skins. They are saying that the 'Boys had no plan and we basically lucked out with Tony Romo. So do you think Parcells had a plan, or did he just luck into Romo being good? My opinion is anyone you pick/sign/play is always going to be a crap shoot as far as performance goes. I beleive Parcells did everything he could to prepare Romo and now we are reaping the dividends of his investment.

this wasn't planned

We've been developing Romo for 3 years (the way it's suppose to be done). We declined at least two trade opportunities for Romo.

It sure as HELL wasn't "luck".

Why does there have to be a plan and why do we need to defend BP or the team for developing a potential superstar QB?

The truth is this: The Cowboys took a flier on a guy people in the organization thought had alot of potential. Parcells probably saw something in Tony that only he knew what was when Romo was "scattering" balls in practice. We were QB weak at the time, and it was decision time on Q.

I think BP thought ... let's get a solid vet in here and develop these two (Henson and Romo) and we'll see.

And now we're seeing. And everyone else is too.

Why be worried about what the Deadskins are talking about on ES, they know their franchise stinks so it's something else to talk about. Parcells knew what he was doing by bringing along Romo gradually, now it's payed off without spending a high draft pick on a QB!
