On this team (2009) with this coaching staff, who would put up more wins?

Romo of today or Aikman of 1995.

there's a reason #8 is in the hall of fame

Tough call.....as great as Aikman was, he didn't look that great after Novacek and Irvin left.

he played without Irvin for one yr

Aikman all day... IF he was allowed to the throw the ball as much as Romo he would have put up some real passing yards.

Aikman hands down. He was a Super Bowl winner who did not have some of the negative plays that Romo does.

One of the dumbest questions ever asked. Seriously. A 3 time Super Bowl winning QB, a Super Bowl MVP, a Hall-of-Famer, # 1 draft pick, most accurate QB in history. Need I go on?

no. . .

Perhaps the opposite should be asked.

Would Romo have quarterbacked the '95 team to a Super Bowl?

This is not funny. Why are you trying to embarrass Tony? Kill the thread. KILL KILL KILL!!!

It's a hard question to answer objectively, so here's some stats from footballoutsiders.com:

Romo 2007 (his best year): 1295 DYAR (Defense-adjusted yard above replacement), ranked 4th in league

Aikman 1995: 1424 DYAR, also ranked 4th in league

So yea, still looks like Aikman by quite a bit.

You can tell who didnt see Aikman play... This team would be hands down SB favorite if you had Aikman in his 7th season... sorry, Witten is better than Jay lets not forget Jay was a plan B free agent!

The current DB rules, Wrs are now actually open in todays game... Aikmans would never throw a pick... period, he would have 1 pick, on a Hail Mary, for an entire season!

Crayton would be Better

Hurd would get cut... Aikman would eat up his shoulder pads!

How many catches did moose and emmitt have on dump offs? Felix Jones would be INSANE!

.... But Romo is a good guy.

I'm not so sure Aikman would have any SB rings with the Cowboys teams of the past few years. These teams didn't have the running game and the O-line has been inconsistent and porous (especially at key moments). I think Romo would have won rings with those teams, because he has played extremely well when he has been given protection and his running game was effective. Throw in the Cowboys defenses of '92 and '93 (in addition to great special teams) and I think Romo has SB wins. Now the '95 team didn't have a great D, but had a dominant offense and I think either QB wins. I don't think Aikman would have faired that well the past few years in Dallas because of his lack of mobility. Romo makes the O-line look better than it is with his pocket awareness and mobility.

Dude...I love Romo, and I think he's awesome and will win us a Championship, or two, in his career, but this can't be a serious question.

Aikman in a landslide. With his accuracy, ability to spread the ball around, and get the ball out fast he'd do wonders with this offense.

As good as he and jay were together I can't even imagine what he'd be able to do with a TE like Jason.

Romo will never, ever be even 1/4th of the QB that Aikman was. The OP should have his fan-card pulled for even creating this thread.
