After watching Romo on Inside the NFL and the trouble he had getting up out of the chair.

Now both starting WR's will not play - speculation on Dez - and Felix is banged up, I would not play Romo.

I think taking it on the chin to fight another day would be a better course of action.

Maybe the defense steps up.

But Romo is too valuable to stand out there allowing the defense to bang those ribs for three hours.

Sometimes the better part of valor is to fight another day.

Let the kid heal.

Romo should play.

...damn, I should have made a new thread for this!

The thing is, this game vs the Skins is pretty important. They've beaten the Giants (Same Division) They've beaten the Cardinals (Same Conference), they're 2-0 and we're 1-1. Skins beat us and they're suddenly 3-0 with a 2-0 Division record and we fall behind even further.

I would play. Not because of any other reason than the team needs him. I have no doubt he is hurting. I have no doubt it is a risk. I've had broken ribs and it sucks how bad it hurts.

But I would play and I think he will. If he doesn't, and I admit that is a possibility, I will be fine with it.

I agree, but then you are risking the health of the man who drives the train for this team.

Which is more important?

Winning this game or keeping your QB healing with a definite date of return?

I don't think he will. As JJT noted yesterday, Kitna's one of the best backups in the league. He's on the roster precisely for situations such as this. He beat Wash/Grossman last December, so starting him doesn't exactly mean we're conceding the game.

He should not play if there is a chance of aggravating his injury further. If its just a pain thing then he should be able to play with pain killers and a flak jacket.

Thank you Dr.

The season is a marathon, not a sprint. JG needs to look at the big picture. If Austin, Dez, Felix, Dockery, and Costa can't go. It's not logical at this point in the season to put Romo out there. This team has proven it can compete with Kitna for a few games.

I have a question regarding this. Can they give Romo a painkilling shot before the game? I mean, if he's hurting and in pain, where do they draw the line in whether or not to give him a shot and let him play or letting him sit? I just don't see him playing without some type of painkiller...

I don't see it as a concession at all.

They gave him one before he went back in against the 9ers.

With a good strong painkiller I can see him playing then, BUT, isn't that taking a big risk. Isn't he risking a more significant injury? NO one can tell me the Foreskins won't be after his ribs..Thier just that dirty.

I'll go with whatever team doctor and JG decides.

given the information we have, I would not clear him to play
he is not being cleared to walk down the street, he will be playing a very violent sport where the intent of the opposition is to hit him hard and knock him out
he had a traumatic pneumothorax, another hit on it is asking for trouble

having said that, i dont have all the info

whatever the team doctors decide is what we should do and i am certain that is what JG and JJ will go with

No, at this point the ribs are broken. They will do everything they can do to make him comfortable and protect him with kevlar vests, painkillers, etc.

The risk is gone, only the pain really remains.

Now, could he get hurt? Yes. But he is not at a any greater risk than a perfectly healthy QB that gets hits by these guys.
