Romo should sit this week

The offensive line is working out some glitches in their blitz coverage, and Romo has some serious back problems. Also, the playcalling seems to abandon goal line formations and running the ball on 2nd and 2 in overtime.

Let Romo have some time off while the offensive line and backs practice their blitz protection for a week, under live fire. It's not going to hurt anything. If the Cowboys use the run game enough, and demonstrate they can beat the blitz, aka their recently found weakness, then Romo can step back in. It's not worth risking Romo for the season right now.

if there is one team he should sit out injured...it is definitely this week against this defense.

they play like the eagle's defense under the late jim johnson.

and they can afford to play that way with their corners.

I agree we can design an offensive scheme for Weeden that will limit his exposure and give Romo time to recoup.

It seems like Romo has a tendency to want to play even though his physical condition isn't at a level to be good enough to win. Let's hope the doctors and staff check him out thoroughly enough to get an accurate evaluation.

The offensive line has nothing to work out, neither the backs. This has been said a million times. If you have 7 blocking, and they send 7 but 3 from one side, how do you block it? The answer is, you don't. You either shift the protection to the opposite side, hoping they don't switch sides, or you actually make the hot read, throw bubble screens, RB screens etc. There was nothing the offensive line could have done but block a person, and those person's were blocked.

Are they risking Romo for the season if he plays? And if they are going to risk him, and not on this game, then when should they risk him if ever? I think it's bruise and not structural or nerve related. I could be wrong though. If bruise, and he can handle the pain, I see no reason to take the foot off the gas to get any wins possible. Also, if no Romo, also seems that the bullseye on Murray will get much bigger.

I wouldn't mind it for several reasons.

1. I have a bad feeling that if Romo plays we see the Romo from week 1.
2. I would not mind seeing another QB, 100% healthy, with a rocket arm slinging it from what should be a decent pocket. This offense is about as rookie friendly as it gets, hand to DeMarco more than half the snaps, throw bullets at Dez, Witten, and Williams.
3. Romo is a hit away from IR, this defense is gonna hit him.

Edit: Also, I'll just throw this thought in there. People seem to think that starting Weeden is essentialy saying we give up. Weeden is not a highschool QB. The dude is a professional football player, backups can and have won in this league. We were just torched by a backup last week who is probably not as good as Weeden if he has a good day.

Let Weeden earn his millions.

Totally agree with this assumption.

Let Romo play if he can go. No sense in sitting him, let him go out there and rebound after that God awful performance. I have no confidence in Weeden nor do I care to see him in action.

Romos kind of a hero of mine, so of course he gonna play this week, he's gonna get injured, not make the trip to London, and I'll have to sit in the rain watching Weeden play the Jags.

We are playing the top team in the conference. If we have championship aspirations then we should not be sitting romo for precautionary reasons. If he feels he can go then you send him out there.

This will be one of the most important games of the year. These types of games -playing when hurt- is what makes Romo Romo and why we love having him as our starting QB.

romo has had a week to talk the coaches and trainers into letting him play, THAT is what worries me...you could see in the Wash game that he willed himself back on to the field even though, it seemed, like the doctors were saying "no".....if we knew more about the actual injury, then mine and all of our opinions would matter....only the trainers/doctors and Tony know...if he is truly just bruised, and he can stand that pain, then he MUST play...if he is truly injured and he is talking his way on to the field, then he must sit in favor of weeden for this week and maybe next...

I for one am for Romo playing. Weeden just isn't very good, no matter what he did in that Commanders game. Dallas needs this one. If he's healthy enough to go, I'm fine with him being out there.

It's his team. He plays if he wants to. He's earned that right as the leader and franchise QB.

You apparently have not watched the film breakdowns...............on one of the sacks (#3 right before halftime), Zach Martin goes to help Parnell with his guy and doesn't realize a stunt is happening and Kerrigan runs right through the hole Martin just left when he went to help Parnell. That sack is 100% the result of a mental error by Martin not recognizing a simple stunt.

In overtime, the sack that causes the fumble is a result of Demarco Murray stepping up to help Zack Martin double team a blitzing linebacker and Murray never sees the safety Merriwether blitzing from his safety spot. Murray should had stayed with the QB and picked up the blitzing safety instead of stepping up to help Zack Martin. When Romo is hit Murray is standing infront of Romo and he turns around and sees the football and falls on it. That sack is the direct result of the running back missing his blitz pickup assignment and instead going to help Zach Martin with a double team.

So while Romo played poorly and didn't audible to quicker hot reads, the offensive line and the backs had mental errors as well that directly lead to sacks. So yes, there is plenty for the offensive line and backs to work on this week, the notion that everybody blocked exactly who they were supposed to and that it was all Romo's fault is laughable. Go watch the all 22 before making statements like this.

If there's anyway Romo can play and do what he needs to do to be effective he needs to play. It's very important the Cowboys bounce back after the poor performance to Washington Monday Night. The last thing the Cowboys want to do is start a losing streak especially at home with the tough schedule they have coming up after the bye. Sundays game could have tie breaker implications if the Cowboys and Cards end up being wildcard teams. A bye could end up being at stake when the season is over. If the Cowboys lose a tie breaker to AZ they may end up having to play them on the road in the playoffs and the Cowboys have had terrible luck the last couple of times they've faced the Cards on the road.

I feel the Cowboys chances of winning on Sunday are very slim with Weeden at QB. In his last 5 starts in Cleveland he was 0-5 with 11 turnovers. Granted he'll be surrounded by more talent than he had in Cleveland but if the Cowboys struggle to run the ball (eventually it will happen) and the game is put on Weeden's shoulders vs a bliz happy defense like AZ it could lead to disaster. The Cowboys can ill afford to play another poor game or it could shake the teams confidence and could lead to a slump with some of the toughest games on the schedule still ahead.

while we need to establish the run in this game, the game will be won through the air. they have a good run defense and a weak pass defense. if romo is healthy then he will play. if not he will not be active. this is an important game and if he can't go weeden is going to have to perform well to win this one.
you won't beat the cards if you can not make plays through the air
