i thought it would be interesting to hear people's thoughts and projections on romos stats for next year and his career. last year he was great until that late season swoon he had. overall i love romo but i think he has an interception/gunslinger problem every now and then. i could honestly seeing him winning the mvp next season with 40 touchdowns with hopefully less then 15 int. he probably leads in yards and a couplr of other categories too.
As for his career as a whole i know people like to compare him to favre but i dont think he will get those numbers. but i can see 300 career TD'S. too early to speculate though i guess. just my opinion, what does everyone else think
they compare him to Favre only because he seems to always have a smile on his face and looks like a kid happy playing the game he loves and does some other things Favre does like make some throws off balance, sidearm, and his improvisation, other than that, I think Favre has clearly a stronger arm but Romo is MUCH MUCH MUCH more effective at makign the RIGHT DECISIONS and doesn't just CHUCK IT UP like Favre does a lot of time.
About Romo's stats, I see them going THROUGH THE ROOF, and not being a homer either, going by LOGIC and COMMON SENSE!
Romo only has ONE FULL SEASON as an NFL starter, that's INSANE when you think about how good he is.
So, now he'll be in his 2nd full season with the same offense, just being in his 2nd full season will improve his T.D. passes and make him throw less INT's since he learned a LOT his 1st year and won't make some of the same mistakes he made last year, and then add in another year i the same offense, that again will add to his T.D. throws and take away from his INT's.
We don't know what W.R.'s will be brought in this year, BUT with Fasano getting better, and with them almost guaranteed to bring in another good W.R. plus probably Terry Glenn playing all year, you have to remember Romo put up those insane record breaking stats without his #2 W.R. all year!
So when you add in the FACTS that he'll have better receivers then he did last year, plus add in another year on the O-lien getting more continuity which should not be underestimated, and with another year in the same offensive system which means he'll be more comfortable, and add in the fact that he'll have the experience of his 1st full season as an NFL starter which will cut down on his mistakes and improve his decision making also after learning, and that he's only gonna be better with more experience, I think he has a shot at breaking even more records.
I'll hold off on my EXACT Prediction till I see if Glenn comes back and if we get a guy like Walker or whoever in the draft, but based on last years numbers
64.4% completion percentage
4,211 yards
36 T.D.'s
19 INT's
97.4 Q.B. Rating
NOW, I will also factor in the last 3 games, where he hurt his thumb and Owens got hurt, in those last 3 games, he threw only ONE T.D. and had 5 INT's and had a completion percentage in those 3 games with his THROWING THUMB injured and T.O. injured also, his completion percentage those last 3 games were 36%/66.7%/43.8% and like I said, 1 T.D. and 5 INT's.
Without injuring his thumb and a healthy T.O., one can only assume what he would of ended up with stats wise for T.D.'s and INT's.
SO, with ALL THAT INFO!
I'm gonna say he improves his Completion percentage from 64.4 to 68%!
his yards from 4,211 to 4,500.
His T.D.'s from 36 to 44
His INT's from 19 to 14
His Q.B. rating from 97.4 to over 100
So in TOTAL!
4,500 yards passing
44 T.D.'s
14 INT's
68% completion %
Over 100 Q.B. rating
When you factor in all my factors above, this is TOTALLY REALISTIC numbers to expect from him next year, and not being a homer, just what the facts and common sense tells me he'll get!
