Tom Brady just restructured his deal to have 24 mil of his contract be only guaranteed if hes injured. Say what you want about this guy but he is the ultimate leader.

Years behind. He took paycuts in the past to bring in and keep receivers.

I don't know how that all works out with Brady and the Patriots. But, Brady didn't take any less money. Just restructured and I'm sure the Pats and Brady have a handshake deal where he won't be cut under any circumstances for a number of years. No big deal if you ask me.

Although, congrats to Brady if the restructure helps the team and he sacrifices something.

I would also add that Giselle makes probably 4-5 times what Brady is bringing home. No one is hurting in the Giselle, I mean Brady household

yeah, that boggles my mind. i only know her for being his wife

Yeah, whatever, telling other people what to do with their money is bad form,,, though somehow popular among some segments of society.

And the new deal turned 24 million into 27 million if he plays all 3 years.

I am seriously doubting that what they are doing is legal under the CBA. They just circumvented the salary cap by turning his cap cost into salary only.

Which means the Pats will probably cut him soon.

No he took signing bonuses and guaranteed money instead of potential salaries. How many times must this come up before people understand that the only thing that matters in these contracts is what is guaranteed.

OK, i see the breakdown now. You are right.

2/25/2013: Signed a five-year, $60 million contract. The deal is fully guaranteed, including a $3 million signing bonus and additional $10 million "signing" bonus in the first year. 2014: $2 million (+ $15 million in "signing" bonus payments), 2015: $7 million (+ $5 million "signing" bonus), 2016: $8 million, 2017: $9 million, 2018: Free Agent

So basically any QB will restructure if they get that owed base salary converted to a bonus. Nothing really changes except cap relief.

No worries. I have doubts if the current move is not circumventing the cap rules.

But he is restructuring 24 mil next season alone to only be guaranteed if he is injured for the yr. Thats crazy, you dont see that. IDK why this was put in the rant zone, its not a knock on Romo just thought it was impressive for him to defer so much money in one yr that he probably wont see now.

It is a big deal because Brady will only see that 24 mil if hes cut or if hes injured for the yr. IN his contract the 24 mil was labeled as a skill guarantee which he wouldve earned no question. And switched it to a injury guarantee which he will only get if hes injured for the yr.

He didn't. He turned 24 million he'd only see if he played 3 years into 27 million he will get if he plays 3 years or gets hurt.
