Romo to have "significant say" in where he goes

If there is a trade, Romo will go where Dallas will get the best value, so I don't know what significant say Romo has but if he wants to go to Denver and they offer a third round pick for him and Cleveland offers a first round selection, Romo is going to Cleveland

Value wise that may be the best for both parties. Gilmore from Buffalo. Richardson from NY. Roby from Denver

Gilmore might end up being a FA... They're not at all pleased in Buffalo with his play this season and there seems to be some hesitancy in franchising him again or giving him a long-term deal.

D is talented though. I think alot of that has to do with the 3-4 transition they are doing this year. I think they will be alot better next year.

With Romo and Denver, i just see them asking himnto put up the ball 500+ times in 2017 if they make that move. With their OL I dont see him lasting. Especially in a division Mack, KC's fleet lf edge rushers and Bosa and Ingram (if he stays in SD). The AFC West is what the NFC East was with pass rushers 10 years ago when we had Ware, Ellis, Uminyora, Strahan and Cole destroying Commander QBs lol

All of this is true..but Buffalo won't be a contender w Romo..playoff team..but they can't win it all

Romo is going to have to be able to survive a season to win a championship...of course you can mitigate the risk involved but you can't hide him

Denver gives him the best chance..heck, they're amongst the best teams in the afc now and they have crap at qb

Is his contract up after the season or is it his option year?

That 19.6 cap hit also has a say.

I don't think you understand the salary cap.

It is 24.7 mill to keep him. 19.6 in dead money if he's cut or traded. Simple math says that's a 5.1 mill bump in cap space for us. So that 19.6 is largely irrelevant.

See what happens when we use facts to evaluate a situation?

Honestly I don't see the stars aligning for Romo to have a legit SB shot. Either 2 things will have to happen that have low probability. 1) Staying healthy in Denver 2) Going on an unexpected playoff run in Buffalo. As far as his options, IMO Denver represents his best bet at a Super Bowl. Buffalo represents his best bet at staying on the field and playing games in January. If Romo is in Denver, I think there is a strong Paxton Lynch is under center in January.

I expect it's going to be a release. That's showing respect for Romo by letting him pick his destination

That's what I think will happen. I can't see Jerry trading him to a lousy team, regardless of the offer. And with Romo's injury history & age we won't be seeing any big offers from good teams like the Broncos when they know we'll have to release him.

*IF* Dak performs well the rest of the season and goes deep in the playoffs, I agree, I suspect they will release Romo or trade him for a lower round pick to the team of his choosing.

The Cowboys won't screw him over just like they didn't screw over Ware. It is not about Romo being worth a high round pick, as I am sure some team out there that has a solid team and no quarterback would pay whatever just like the Vikings did this year, but Romo won't play for any random team. He's not moving his family and he's not going to risk more injuries unless he feels he has a shot at the Super Bowl, and the Cowboys won't stop him from going where he wants to go over a draft pick, unless it is an NFC East team.

As for Denver, I would love for Romo to go there, but Denver gave up picks to get Lynch this past draft and he's already shown positive results in limited play, and Semian and Lynch have them at 7-3, so I would not be so sure Denver wants to bring in an old quarterback when they have two young quarterbacks on the team especially when one was drafted to be a franchise quarterback. Since the Broncos won the Super Bowl last year, they will not be as desperate to return as other teams.

In any case, I think all of this talk is premature. We still have a lot of football left in this season and a lot can happen, both on the Cowboys and to other teams before the season is over.

Suddenly people believe the press. For the last decade the vitriol has gone from bad to worse about reports by the press. Now you see this blurb and immediately these guys are spewing burning bush information?

The results of this season will weigh heavy on what next year will bring.

My Opinion:

Miss the play-offs - - Romo will have played some games in 2016
Dak makes the play-offs but lost first game - - Open competition in 2017
Dak makes the NFC Championship game - - Dak goes in as starter for 2017, but may be in a competition by the end of training camp
Romo takes over for a foundering Dak and takes team to the play-offs - - open competition in 2017
Romo gets to the NFC Championship game after taking over - - Romo will be named starter in off-season, but will be a quiet competition
Romo gets to the Super Bowl and loses - Romo is the starter in 2017
Romo wins the Super Bowl - starter in 2017

Dak wins the Super Bowl - Romo traded

I believe Jerry's love for Romo, and his understanding he can fade one more year of this will cause Romo to be here.

However, if someone comes a calling after the 2017 season starts and this is still up in the air, and they offer a 1, then Jerry will be hard pressed to pass that up.

But there is too much football left for this decision to be made. And Rappaport's comments are far more speculation by someone on the fringe that Rappaport talked to and not one of the main players in this drama.

In other words his comments can be dried and used to fertilize roses.

Nothing to see here ladies.

Bravo you hit it right on the head. If Romo goes anywhere it will be on Jerry's terms and not by speculation of the media, which lately has been a joke. I totally agree this scenario has yet to play out in its fullest. Those in here believing it's a done deal that Romo is gone next year should not be close to any front office. It wouldn't surprise me one bit to see him back at the controls this year.

What's the confusion? Why give a superbowl contending team a piece that they are missing, which is quarterback, when we have superbowl aspirations of our own? Why would we significantly strengthen an already strong team?
Because this is real life with real people who have real relationships with each other.

Sure you can sit behind a computer and pretend you would just crap on Romo to serve your own interest but you have not gone to War with this man for the last 10 years. You don't know how children. You are just a wanna be internet tough guy.

I believe it's superbowl or open competition in camp next year for Romo and Dak. If we keep rolling all the way to the big game then I would assume it's officially Daks team. Any less and I can see the argument that it's still open.

Can I sell you some swamp land in Florida? We have an opportunity here to reduce cap and get a good pick not a 4th or 5th like is being said, or possible trade and people want to just cut Romo.

Romo isn't going anywhere. He will compete with Dak for the starting job next preseason. Or at least that is what I read here.

We can cut him and reduce cap in the same way.

But yes, let's hold out for a late round pick. Just sit on him until someone bites. That's not how good teams treat guys

Football is a business, there are no good guys. If Jerry can get a 1st do you realy think he will trade Romo for a 4th or release him just because he wants to go to a particular team?
