Romo vs Cutler

Im originally from Denver and my brother in law (like everyone in Colorado) is a huge Bronco fan, we were talking the other day on the phone and he was talking smack about Wade Gump (Phillips) as he calls him. He was also saying how Cutler is currently better then Romo and it didnt take him 4 years to get there. Anyway I told him to put his money where is his mouth was so we made 2 bets.

Dinner that Romo has more passing yards next season.
Round of Golf that Romo will have more passing TDs next season.

Romo should have more of both just for the fact that he has better offensive weapons. If they had the same, it would be up in the air on both. The style of offense can determine the outcome rather than the players themselves. Look at Aikman. He had a golden arm, but he also had Emmitt Smith. He didn't produce the passing numbers he could have because of it. Aikman was very unselfish. Which not only made him a great teammate, but (without fan goggles) one of the top QBs of all time. I think Aikman and Farve are very close in ability, but stats were always important to Farve. (and still are which is why he still hasn't retired. He wants to break a few records he is close too)

Should be interesting how this year plays out with Romo. I'm sure it will be good 'n productive, though I do fear it might start off a bit rocky as the "reigns" are released and he readjusts to life after Big Bill and his constant reeling him back in. We could see a few mistakes here and there as the season starts.

You're letting him off easy.
Dinner and golf?
Should've made it Dinner AND drinks and golf AND a keg.

Looks like Romo is going to hook me up, the only thing sweeter then winning a bet with your brother-in-law is living in Denver and wiping the smile off a Broncos fan.

Romo 2555 23 TDs
Cutler 1882 9 TDs

Now my sister is mad at for betting him, he just made a bet with me that the Nuggets would beat the Celtics for a box of Nike golf balls. I gave him 5 points, but they were down by 40 at half time and lost by 28. God I love Denver fans! :)

Congrats. Make sure you wear a Romo jersey during the golf game.

That is a great idea and funny you say that I just bought one last week.

Hes going to love that.

thats awesome. You should call and give him the weekly countdown. I would. Let him know every week from now that Romo is laying a whoopin on Jay.

If that would prevent people from reading the first line of a post and then making some stupid, inane comment that has nothing to do with the body of the post, then I'd be all for it.

Yee-haw.

That might be a difficult thing to so, seeing that this particular guy said he watched the 'Boys throughout the 90s but continuosly spells #88 as "Ervin". Maybe he just lacks reading comprehension skills and just couldn't get through the rest of your post.

Those Philo posts brought a smile to my face. He and the Prophet were a comic duo, like Frick and Frack.

I was never a fan of idiots acting stupid just to get a reaction ..... guess thats why I don't like Tom Green, Stevo or the rest of the MTV jackarse crew.

It has been a while since I could say this about a Cowboy QB but now I can say it. Cutler could not carry Romo jock on his best day. No contest. I feel better now. :laugh2:

I live up here in northern colorado too so I've seen Cutler plenty, even watched him play in person once and man, I really think he's going to be good. He's wasn't quite there yet last season, but you could have some trouble with your bets. Cutler had 1000 yards and 9 TDs in 5 games last year, that projects to just over 3000 yards and 27 TDs for a season and I really don't see Romo doing much more than that. I think it's gonna be a close bet.

You dont see Romo doing much more than 3000 yards? He is on pace this year for 4542.

You don't see Romo throwing more than 27 TDs? He is on pace this year for 40.

I personally havn't seen Cutler, but he is going to have to be DAMN good to beet Romo in these stats, especially with the team we should field next year. We will still have TO and Witten, and possibly glenn and crayton.

Thats the problem with bumping old threads ...... people start an argument with someone months apart.

That is also the fun of it. :lmao2:

I like Jay Cutler and think he is a great prospect and if he learns where to go with the ball confidently hes going to be a good one.

He'll get better, but so will Romo. I dont think he'll be able to catch up in a year. If he does on a consistent basis he may end up being one of the great ones.

Check out the time stamp, dooder.

Man, I broke one of my cardinal rules for forum posting. That is read the entire thread before posting. I was just so flabergasted he wouldn't think Romo would do more especially with how the season is going.

Makes sense now I guess.:

Ahh well...congrats on the orginal poster's winning bet.
