Sheli is sitting at 99 touchdown passes right now and might break 100 next week against us. IF he does, he'll have 100 TD's in 74 games.

Romo is sitting at 84 touchdowns right now and will break 100 this season easily. His 84 touchdowns have come in 41 games.

Marino holds the record for fewest games played to reach 100 passes. He did it in 44 games.

Johnny Unitas hit 100 TD's in 53 games.

Peyton Manning hit 100 TD's in 56 games.

Before this season is through, Romo will own the #2 spot for fewest games to 100 TD's. He has a chance to tie Marino, but realistically it's an extreme long shot to get 16 TD's in 3 games.

Just shows you how good our franchise QB really is.

Nice stats.

However, Tony Romo is at the stage in his career where he wants to take his game to the next level, which is having major success in the Playoffs.

The main difference between Tony Romo and those guys is that they have had major success in the Playoffs.

Personally, the only thing that could stand in Romo's way of getting the Playoff monkey off of his back is Wade Phillips. You know, the guy who's defense got shreaded yesterday and hasn't been offered a contract extension in his last season.

The point you're missing is a quarterback as prolific as Tony is WILL have post-season success no matter what. Just a matter of time.

The point you are missing is Tony Romo is past the "impressive" stats in the Regular Season stage.

Stage 1 - Prove you can play in the NFL

Stage 2 - Prove that you can have success in the Regular Season

Stage 3 - Prove that you can have success in the Playoffs

Stage 4 - Prove that you are one of the best to ever play in the NFL

Tony Romo is in Stage 3, him putting up great numbers is just that, great but right now, even Tony Romo will tell you the most important thing is to get the Playoff Monkey off us his back.

Every time someone says something positive about Romo you get the obligatory "but he has not won a playoff game" .....

I guess when he wins a playoff game you will get the obligatory "He has not won a Superbowl" ......

If he does that I guess you will get the obligatory "He has not won multiple Superbowls" ......

After that maybe a "He has never went undefeated!"

Personally I prefer not to invest in our QB's failure and enjoy his success a little ....... but thats just me ;).

So would you be fine with Romo making it to one and losing?

And Troy Aikman, one of the greatest QBs to ever play the game, only had 165 TD passes in his entire career.

TD passes are an awful way to judge QBs, unless they play in the same offensive system.

Romo is a great QB. There are only a couple guys, right now, that I'd take over him. Which means I'm pretty darn happy to have him. I believe he'll have his playoff success and I do believe he'll get a Superbowl win. The thing is those accomplishments are not individual accomplishments those are team ones. Romo isn't ever getting any of those until his team starts also filling up those accomplishments for themselves as well.

"The Dallas Cowboys with Romo at QB have not won a playoff game."

The team has not won. 45-50 guys have played in those games and some have had major mistakes in them too. Romo has not been the primary reason they have lost those playoff games!

Tony hasn't won a playoff game? I was unaware of this fact.

Edit: Beat to the punch, by a mere 8 hours.

Yeah, and you know it was all his fault that he failed to succeed in the playoffs too. If only Marino had that "It factor" that the great ones all seem to exude. You know, the Trent Dilfers and Brad Johnsons of the world...

All I get from thsi thread is what freakin' monster Marino was. If only he'd won a super bowl, there'd be no doubt he was the best QB to ever play.

Likewise. I wish I could have watched the guy play in his prime. All we talk about now is how much the "game has changed" as an explanation for the less spectacular stats of past quarterbacks, but Marino still holds some ridiculous records/numbers.

100 TDs in your first 41 games? What the hell? :laugh2:
