So the whole argument for getting rid of him was money. He still got what he was owed so what exactly was the problem? I’m not buying the drunk driving stuff….is there some things they are holding back?

There has been rumors this incident provided them an out on his contract as they were suspected of wanting out due to some pushback on his ratings of late. And just his overall performance and interest was growing stale.

That all comes from the other side of a contract dispute
both sides always trash the other with rumors
I keep asking everyone to show evidence unconnected to CBS as regards all these claims he was unprepared

Tony Romo isn’t walking away empty-handed.

The now-former CBS Sports NFL commentator is expected to “probably be a paid a good portion” of the $72 million remaining on his contract, according to The Athletic.

The sides reportedly agreed to financial terms Friday before news broke of of their split with four years and $72 million remaining on Romo’s 10-year, $180 million deal.

IF they paid most of it then they knew any court challenge would fail on their part

$127 million playing football
and what looks like over $100 in broadcasting
and Tony has never shown the need for bling or fancy cars and all of that so he is doing just fine as regards money

I'll happily let them fire me for a measly 2!

Say Tony made $230 million between football and broad casting
Top Fed rate is 37% and no Texas Income Tax
so that leaves $145 million
even if he gives 10% to his agent he still put over $130 million in his pocket

Total speculation by me..

There has been rumors CBS wanted out of that contract.

Romo gave them one with the DUI.

Romo then says he has a drinking problem and he’s seeking counseling / help so they can’t outright fire him and not pay him.

They get rid of Romo and settle.

Better off just keeping him tbh. Something else is going on behind the scenes.

If Romo was stale JJ Watt is moldy right off the jump
It can be difficult for some Cowboys fans to be unbiased but I’ve heard from some who had waned off of him as well.

We must recall that there are 31 other teams of NFL fans to cater to. And CBS doesn’t do many Cowboys games.

And Watt may not be long term solution.

Nice chunk of pocket money for Romo. If i was him i would just take it easy now, enjoy my family and play some golf, lots of golf. Life of a 46 yr old multimillionaire. Not bad for a FA from Eastern Illinois.

And Tony, have you heard of Uber?

He was trying out for Korn Ferry tour last week but shot 4 over and finished 50th in qualifying round.
