It was, you just have a selective memory

Re-watch the Pats game, first skins game, both eagles games and the 2nd Giants game. Every time we played a team with a decent defensive front we struggled to move the ball and we can't score in the redzone

i'm gonna go out on a limb and call that a weakness

We lost the Patriots game like we lost a lot of games last year - because we couldn't stop a team when we needed to. We lost to Philly because we couldn't stop them, period.

Yes, our OL was weak last year, and I don't know if we've done enough to legitimately improve it going into this year. Will Callahan and a new blocking scheme lead to improvement? Are Livings and Bernadeau actual upgrades? Will Nagy, Kowalski, and Arkin progress to the point where they can keep the OL from being a liability? All very legit questions.

But we blew 5 4th quarter leads, 3 of them 12 points or more. Which means, that even with a bad OL, we were still getting leads, and still in position to win the game. We lost because our defense failed, specifically the secondary. Using key resources to improve that part of the team - IMO - was absolutely necessary. We got the number 1 DB in FA, and the number 1 DB in the draft. You can't be upset about that.

If their idea of "putting resources" into the o-line is simply signing Livings and Bernadeau, then I reiterate once again that I have no faith in this team's ability to find quality linemen.

Kosier and Colombo were considered piles of crap when they came to the team. They ended up being very solid starters until age/injuries took their toll on them.

Why don't you just wait and see what they do when the season starts, and wait to find out who else they will draft? You DO NOT have to draft interior linemen in the first round. Not very many go in the first round, and it's because the position is simply not as valuable as the rest.

Most people couldn't name the names on the OL from the cowboys SB teams in the 90s does that mean they where unimportant in our success?

Really? With Madden gushing over them every sunday? :)

But thats my point....we dont need household names on the oline....Some here think we need all pros on the OL to succeed. Yes we need to improve...but last year OL wasnt as bad as some think it is.

We do need a Center, and not one in the 6th round.

Love the Claiborne pick, but now we have to follow it up strongly.

I'm not arguing against the pick, i love the pick

I am just pointing out how wrong it is to say OL was not a problem last year it clearly was.

Maybe you know more about offensive linemen than Bill Callahan. I doubt it.

You can have all pros all over the OL and most people still wouldn't be able to name them. People don't appreciate good OL play until you no longer have it

The draft is not over. Decastro is so overrated.

The proof is in the pudding. He fell to the mid-20's while someone this board might have taken him with a top ten pick.

Most around here forgot how we got that OL. Nate Newton and Mark Tuinei were long term projects who looked like complete and total garbage their first 2-3 years in the league. If these same people had been evaluating them today they would claim they'll never amount to anything. John Gesek was claimed off Plan B free agency scrap heap and was even less regarded in the league than Livings. Mark Stepnoski was an undersized, unheralded 3rd round pick.

Why do people think that failing to draft somebody at a position in the first round means failing to address the position? If we want all positions to be first round draft picks, we will be waiting 22 years. IT CAN'T BE DONE! STOP CRYING! The CB position just became a huge strength for the Cowboys, and Jerry only had to give up the 45th pick in the draft for the best defender in it. They didn't trade a future first, and almost climbed into the top 5 from 14. It was a good trade. We will draft some interior lineman during the course of the draft, so just wait 2 days to find out who it is before you start complaining about it, which the same people will undoubtedly do.

No kidding eh? We also picked up 37 yr old Ray Donaldson to play center and help us win the 95 SB

Nice, accurate post.

We do need an OC. Interestingly enough, they're all still out there. There'll be one for us in round 3 if that's the direction we end up going.

I'd also be a lot happier with options at S. I actually think Church starts next year, and we went with Poole over Elam because Elam/Church were similar players whereas, theoretically, Poole has more range. I'm not sold on him as a starter anymore, though. Hopefully we'll hit on another Church-like guy in the mid-rounds that can come in and have a shot at making this roster.

Our interior Oline blows. We need a center and Guard. I love Claiborne but the Oline trenches are more vital.

The more I read about Claibore the more I like him but, I agree 100% that we need to end up with some quality O-Line from this draft.

Cowboys have more selection in this draft to address the OL if they choose. We also have some guys who were drafted last season who are very young, hate to see people give up on them this quickly and Dallas added a quality blocking FB in Vickers as well as adding to the OL through FA.
