Romo would have played better than Dak vs Panthers

Hell, he should have played better. Geez, 13 years experience vs. 2 years. Whether he would've actually performed better or the team have won is pure speculation, but for crying out loud, it's not like Tony didn't have bad games. IIRC, he threw 4 or 5 INTs in Monday night game in Buffalo against a vastly inferior team (they ultimately won on a long FG, but certainly you wouldn't categorize how Tony played as well).

LOL People ripping on Romo and here we are 2+ years later and the offense looks like more of a joke than ever. Kind of tells you there were much deeper issues than the QB. Can anyone put a finger on the problem cause apparently the front office can not?

He carved up that 2009 Minnesota defense, right? Lol

Oh, and to answer your question about Rodgers, he sucked that game. See how easy that was? No excuses. That isn’t in the Romo lovers aresenal. Have no idea how to just admit that.

Enjoy your Romo wet dream.

....so there you go. Arguably the best QB in the league, maybe of all time, doesn't just come back after weeks of healing a collarbone and tear up a defense. That's just not how it works.

It's kinda like, I don't know, not being 100% and being rusty will impact your game against a good/great defense.

You're not smart. Stop posting.

Yes, this is normally how it goes when you have a QB that was top 10 throughout his career and even top 5 a few years. He deserves this kind of praise.

QBs like him do not come along often.
Again, I liked TR. But QBs that win two playoff games in their entire career do come along pretty often. Romo is overrated by most Cowboys fans.

It’s not that he can’t, it is that he didn’t. I am sure he expected to play well, like Tony did. Tony had already even had a tune up game. You are just overly sensitivity when it comes to Romo, which is about all you talk about. Your hero was good, he just wasn’t as good as you think he was. I know that hurts your feelings and bugs the crap out of you, but suck it up buttercup. You’re gonna get through this. You may require professional help, but you’ll make it through.

Ding ding ding. We have a winner. Mattjames loses again.

So front office decisions, drafts, coaching. etc.. played no part in that. Wish Romo had a smart GM who wasn't drafting Felix Jones, trading 3 picks for RW and not taking a lineman until he was 32, that list goes on and on? No running game? What did they average 8 TDs a year on the ground if they were lucky? Most Cowboy fans should recognize the other issues? and there were plenty of them.

First off, he's not "overrated by most" - this forum is not indicative of most of Cowboys nation. Most of Cowboys nation right now still believes Dak is a better QB than Romo. Wanna see this? Join Facebook and have a discussion with a Cowboys fan for a few minutes, you'll get what the majority think.

Romo is actually underrated, and even the supposed "knowledgeable" sports fans here can't even put together that playoff wins is not a single player thing, but a team thing.

This is an old discussion and you've been around long enough to be making these bad arguments. Enough, dude. I don't care that you liked Romo, I care about facts and analyzing the game of football better.

It's funny how this place goes from admitting Jerry Jones is the worst GM in the league, that he builds the worst teams - to suddenly putting it all on Romo when he becomes the topic.

Weird logic? Jerry sucks, but Romo should've been winning Super Bowls with Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett? lol If the GM wasn't a joke, I could've seen much better things for the QB. There were poor front office decisions through the entire meat of Romo's career. That, there is no doubt. Started right out of the gate too. Moronic decisions from 2007 on!!!

FAR from overrated by "most"
He's underrated if anything.
The ones that seem to miss on him are ones that apply 53 man team results to one player....as if it's a golf match.

I’m not dissing Romo. And I certainly agree with you, the Cowboys playoff problems are not all on Romo. I’m just saying there are IMO, a higher opinion of Romo by some than he deserves. That’s just an opinion. I’m not attacking him. Just stating an opinion. I appreciated what Romo was. IMO, a very good QB. Not great.

You're calling Romo the best QB of all time?

Well, OK, you are welcome to your opinion. And I can think he was good, but not great, right?

What? No. We're talking about Rodgers, who had a similar situation last year against Carolina as Romo did in 2015 when he faced a BETTER Carolina defense.

Both broke collarbones, both tried to come back and play, both looked bad, both got shut down for the rest of the season after the game.

Ah, gotcha!!!

I have levels of greatness when I'm doing my ranking.

1st Level, in no particular order: Montana, Brady, Unitas, Otto Graham, Bart Star

2nd Level of greatness is a lot bigger, and includes Rodgers.

If that were true, than what happened to those ten QB studs after Aikman & before Romo?

Uhhh, no, he would have not.
How quickly people forget Romo's last performance vs the Panthers on Thanksgiving Day 2015. Romo's start to the game... Romo's overall performance. How quickly people forget.

Let's stop with the "Romo would have performed much better than Dak today vs the Panthers" talk. Romo is retired for a reason. The game would have finished much worse behind today's Romo...or Orange Crush or Mike White.
How about his first career NFL start? How quickly people forget. :p

Ironically, Romo's first career NFL start was against Carolina and his last career game as a starter was against Carolina. The last game is the one my friend picked to rag on Tony lol.

For the record, Romo completed 24 of 36 passes for 270 yards and a touchdown in his first career NFL start with a 35-14 win against Carolina. So there. :muttley:
