The NFL’s Summer of Law, 2015 edition, included a claim from Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo that the NFL improperly shut down a fantasy football convention in Las Vegas, over concerns that the event was being held on property owned by a casino. (Meanwhile, the NFL currently is allowing the Raiders to openly flirt with the owner of the same casino regarding the possibility of building a stadium there.)

The thing that irritates me is the NFL has fan duel and similar fantasy betting sites as major sponsors. I'm not a fan of hypocrisy.

Well legally, fanduel and draft kings is not considered gambling, in the vast majority of states. That is just legally, as of now. Most of us believe it is a form of gambling.

What is a lawsuite? Is that a combination of the law and a suite? Is it a room at Jerry world where police officers and lawyers get together to watch Cowboys games and or concerts?

It seems to me that the NFL didn't want fantasy betting conflated with casino gambling. They were covering their investment.

I would think that Romo would have -- how would you yanks say it . . . ? -- bigger cod to fry.
Advancing age, surgical options, draining money from the cap . . . and he still finds time to play L.A. Law. If it is that important, Tony, wait until you retire. Then you can play football fantasy all you like. And here's hoping you get some fantasy playoff wins, mate.

PFT, eh? Publishing an article involving Romo? They'll probably include a photo inset of him. There are thousands upon thousands to choose from. Let's see. Maybe a pic of him passing the ball? Or one showing that happy-go-lucky grin of his? Or maybe one of him signing autographs? There are just so many photographs that could match the content of an article involving a legal dispute between the league and Romo--or perhaps highlight Romo in a favorably professional light..?

That is quickly changing, both sites have been shut down or made illegal in more than a few states and considered gambling. Soon they will have to register as legal gambling sites the way it's going, right here in Vegas.

This is not going to help him get calls from the refs. He already doesn't get any calls and now suing the NFL is going to make that worse. Dlinemen will have to hit his head with a hammer in order to get a blow to the head call.

Literally the only difference is Tony's event wasn't kicking anything back to the NFL. Period.

You realize all Romo had to do was contact his attorney and they take care of things from there with little to no input from Tony. It's not like he is drawing up paperwork at his desk and contacting others and all the like involved.

Also, we didn't get calls before the lawsuit, not like they can really give us any less.
