Joe Nameth had that kind of release too, but I can't think of anyone else. The thing about Romo is that he has that quick of a release with a fairly conventional throwing motion whereas both Marino and Nameth had a shorter motion closer to the head...more like a dart throw.Teague31;1571239 said:Watched the training camp special tonight and was blown away by just how fast Romo gets rid of the ball. in all my years of watching football, only marino stands out as having as quick a release.. it was unreal to watch.
I hung out with Haley once for a day. He was a guest at one of my dad's community activities (it was like a safety thing for biking) and it didn't turn out so well, so I just ended up tossing the pigskin around with him and just chatting. First thing I thought was, damn, what long freaking arms he had. Anyways, he was a friendly, but distantly so. Just thought I'd relay.zeromaster;1571582 said:The only thing DWare lacks is Haley's insane demeanor. But I'm not complaining if the results are similar.

Yeah, it was bizarre. I felt like I had to shout for him to respond, even though he was right there and it had nothing to do with his hearing. I wanted to see his 5 super bowl rings, but I guess he doesn't wear him all the time.nyc;1571753 said:Yeah, Haley's demeanor is kinda spooky. He is usually pretty quite and aloof with things are well, but he has a very nasty streak when things are not. Outspoken is an understatement with him when the nasty streak comes out.
i saw a thing on tv with him when he was still playing. the guy asked him why he wasn't wearing any of his rings. he said he never wears his rings because it keeps him hungryfirehawk350;1571793 said:Yeah, it was bizarre. I believe overall the quick release will outweigh the potential problems, but considering the release point and Romo's average height there is at least a little concern.

The guy is 6-2, and his release point is pretty high, certainly almost always above his helmet. He doesn't do alot that lends itself to linemen knocking stuff down. I don't suspect that it will ever become a problem.

That's his game. His percentage from everywhere, in every situation is pretty darn high, though.I'll bet if you could find it you would see he had a higher percentage throwing on the run and out of the pocket than most.
I'll make you a deal - I'll agree that you're wrong. It probably depends alot on the kind of throw he's making. I tried to find a bunch of stills that were close to his release point, and they don't exactly prove anything, except that these are all the ones I can find, and none look low. (On the ones you can't see the ball in, just click the thumbnail - I had to rehost and it cropped some.)As for release point, I guess we will have to agree to disagree because I just don't see a high release point at all with Romo.

Only 4 QBs had a smaller percentage.
