Questions about Tony Romo's troubles in December didn't gain much traction with the Cowboys quarterback Thursday. So one reporter shifted the discussion a bit, asking Romo if he was annoyed by the perception that he doesn't play well in big games.
"I don't know that's a perception,'' Romo said. "Maybe for you it is.
"I'm OK. We've played plenty of big games and won plenty of them.''

DeMarcus Ware is ready for December. On Thursday he was sitting in the defensive meeting room watching film, flipping back and forth between the Thanksgiving Day game vs. Oakland and the first game vs. the New York Giants just to get a feel for what he is doing rushing the quarterback.
Ware knows how important it is for him to do more in December. He leads the Cowboys in sacks with eight and pressures with 32. He's still looking for his first interception and has only one tackle for loss but he has 73 tackles.
"Usually at this time of the year it's about stepping up your play," Ware said. "It's a big pressure time and you've got to be able to make plays."
In 18 regular-season games in December and January since he joined the Cowboys, Ware has 18.5 sacks. He has had at least four sacks in those games each season.

Giants sack total down, again

The New York Giants' sacks total is down for the second consecutive seasons.
The Giants had a league-high 53 sacks in 2007, when they won the Super Bowl. Last year's club, which lost its first playoff game, had 42 sacks. This year's team is down to 23 sacks going into Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Giants coach Tom Coughlin, in a conference call, listed several reasons for the decline in sacks. More teams have gone with maximum protection to negate the Giants' pass-rushers, and opponents have also changed to a quicker rhythm.
Most of all, Coughlin said, the Giants' defense has not played well on first and second down. The pass-rushers have not been able to take advantage of third-and-long situations.
``We haven't had, unfortunately, a lot of the long-yardage, tee-it-up kind of things present themselves to us,'' Coughlin said.
The Giants have also lost two key elements of the 2007 defense. End Michael Strahan retired after that season. Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo stayed for one more year before moving to St. Louis as head coach.
Why hasn't pass rush been what has in past _ "Wethe rhythm and done things of the nature of keeping adequate protection in. We haven't had, unfortunately, a lot of the long yardage keyed up kind of things present themselves to us. I think it's a combination of things.''
