Romo's Stats Throwing to T.O.

The most telling stat and the reason I'm glad he's gone, completion percentage. Romo was 69-140 when throwing to T.O. Not even 50%. That just tells how many balls were forced to him. I think our offense this year will be far less predictable, and will lead to improvement over last year.

Romo threw every pass to TO last year? I must have been dreaming -- I thought I saw Brad Johnson playing.

FYI, TO only caught 57% of his passes in 2007, but I doubt you'd find anyone that actually believes Tony would have had such a good year without TO.

Romo was 57-for-115 (49.6 percent) throwing to Owens.

Johnson and Bollinger were a combined 12-for-25 (48.0 percent).

But completion percentage isn't nearly as important as yards per attempt. Romo averaged 9.3 yards per attempt when throwing to Owens, which is excellent (the same as what the Cardinals averaged when throwing to Larry Fitzgerald and the Texans averaged when throwing to Andre Johnson).

Johnson and Bollinger averaged 4.0 when throwing to Owens.

Nice Stats.. can you go a bit further..What was his rating while trowing to TO?

Can you compare it to other player like Witten Crayton..

What about Romo throwing to Glenn?

It says more about how T.O. frellanced when runing routes than anything else. I don't mind the QB going to the #1 WR thinking he's open. But when that receiver is open for a small window and then cuts his route short, or too wide, or anywhere other than to the spot where the QB is expecting him to break, making it look like a badly forced pass when the QB throws to the expected spot, then I have issue with that. But T.O. was the master of instantly reacting like like he was at the right spot and the throw wasn't every time it was the other way around. But coaches and management knew better; so when they made "player-accountability" a high priority moving forward, it was a no-brainer that T.O. and his antics had to go because it was plainly obvious he would never hold himself ccountable for his football negligence.

Perhaps those stats are more telling of romo's inability to get the ballconsistently to a receiver who isn't wide open. A receiver can't throw himself the ball.

Romo's career completion percentage is almost 64 percent.

There is a reason in tight spots Romo always looked for Witten 1st because Witten is going to be in the right spot on the correct route majority of the time. Yes he gets it wrong sometimes we saw a game where a pic was his fault but the majority of the time he is going to run a good route and the correct route

I think that the Cowboys offense will be more diverse without TO.

Who the hell do you think you are coming in here and making solid, logical statements?!
Thank you for writing something legit and not doing as most opposing fans do (trash talking etc.).
I totally agree with your statement. I believe this will not be the kind of offense that defenses can shut down but keying on one or two players.

Well he will be in more tight spots this year then ever before. We'll see if he has a 90+ qb rating without TO since TO couldn't be counted on.

"More tight spots"? Care to elaborate?

Should the offensive line provide him with adequate protection, they will give Romo time to complete passes more often to various targets. His quarterback rating is unlikely in jeopardy for that reason. Injuries are a key (and probably only) concern for Romo should Roy E. Williams and/or Felix Jones find themselves standing on the sidelines for an extended period(s) this season.

The person above me said Romo went to Witten during tight spots during game opposed to Owens. Well, TO is gone now so keep going to your tight spot guy. The oline is the same as it was last year so that point is irrelevant because his qb rating was still over 90.

Kangaroo clearly explained why Romo threw to Witten in tight spots.

If the offensive line can remain relatively healthy this season (in particularly Kosier) and you still believe that it would be the same as in '08, well... you keep believing that and we'll both see what Romo's quarterback rating will be at season's end, won't we? :)
