Who cares?

Stats are for losers. The only stat that means anything is playoff and Super Bowl wins. Case in point...look who has most of the passing records for the Cowboys. Danny freakin White. How many Super Bowls did he lead the team to? Hall of fame? The only thing that matters is what they do when the season is on the line in a do or die situation. Not how many touchdowns did they throw against 2 win teams during the season. I mean who really cares?

Unless Romo wins the big one or at least a playoff game, he will be a stat machine like Danny White. And a footnote in the Cowboys QB history like Danny White. Nothing more nothing less.

QB's don't win SB teams do.

good point. and Danny Freakin' White, was a very good qb. He just happened to be on a team that was not quite good enough to win the superbowl.

Here are a few...

Pass Yards Season
D White 1980..............3,980
Romo 2007 (projected) 4,535

Pass TD Season
D White 1980.............29
Romo 2007 (projected) 37

Pass Attempts
D White 1980.............533
Romo 2007 (projected) 546

Completions
D White 1980.............334
Romo 2007 (projected) 342

300-yard games in a season
Romo has 4 this season, and that's the record.

Most Consecutive Games, 300+ yards
Romo had 3 this season, and that too is the record.

300-yard games Career
Aikman 14 (in 165 games)
D White 10 (166 games)
Romo 7 (18 games)

Most Consecutive Games TD pass
Aikman (1993-4) 16
Romo (2006-current) 11

thanks Percy for looking those stats up, its hard to believe how mediocre our QB stats have been through the years, especially given all the success we have had through our history. a couple of those stats really stick out.

Aikman 14 300 yard games??? are you kidding me?? D White with 10? how many did Roger have less than 10?

D White with 29 TD passes in a season..... Geeze Brady has 27 after 7 weeks, wow.

someone earlier said stats our for losers, but i gotta disagree to an extent, stats mean alot when it comes to hall of fame voting.

after looking at these records, i have no doubt Romo could own all of them.

Well when Danny took over I would say the window of opportunity was starting to narrow and he had about 3 years before the talent and unexpected retirements started taking its toll. Add to that draft picks where not making the grade. You look at Roger situation and it was very different, the window was just opening after some years with Meredith and Morton and the draft picks where able to step in after older players retired. Roger had more opportunities with the teams he lead than Danny did. I loved Roger but it was not like we were going to SB every year and we had our share of hearting breaking losses in the playoffs with Roger at QB. I just hate it when people put the entire SB responsibility on one player it is more than the QB as to why you make the SB.

The only true stat I care about:

Roger: 2 trophies
Troy: 3 trophies
Romo: ???

I don't think that there is really any question. In fact, I think any decent QB would break all the passing records in todays NFL. That's just the way the game is now. However, as usual, Big Dog makes are valid point.

Roger: 2 trophies
Troy: 3 trophies
Romo: ???

These are the only records we measure our QBs by. Those are the ones that count.

Sorry I measure my team by those trophies. No matter how good Troy was with out Emmitt, Mike and a whole host of other great players we don't win those SB. Troy was great but there are many great QB's who have no rings and there are some QB's who I would not give a day 1 pick for that has a ring.

Danny White was a very good QB for us. I think he was probably the most underappreciated as well - esp because he had to follow Staubach.

Our talent during White's tenure wasn't as good as Staubach's, IMO, esp. on defense. We were starting to slide a bit downhill at that stage.

I don't think White was the primary reason we didn't make it to the Super Bowl those years. It was just that the teams weren't quite as good as in previous years.

But as Cowboys' fans, I realize that that success here is measured by Super Bowl wins . . . . but I think White is a bit unfairly tainted.

I tell you want I would take a Danny White over a Trent Dilfer or Doug Williams, Joe Theisman, Jim Plunket, Jim McManon or Phil Simms any day of the week.

100% agree with you.

I still remember that win in the playoffs vs. Atlanta. That was one of the best comebacks I remember.

Danny WHite was a good Qb but he was not a clutch player. I was in my early teens when he was playing so I don't remember but so much but the one thing that sticks is that he did not come up big in big games.

Untimely INt's seem to come to mind.

That was a great one as well as the comeback over Tampa Bay. I just think it is unfair to take the ultimate teams sports that Football is and place the success or failure of championships on one mans shoulders. Danny took a lot of abuse by fans during those days that was uncalled for and when you get right down to it talent wise Danny was much better than some QB's that have rings.

Like San Fran? what happened to our defense in that game? Danny put up a big day and had it not been for a finger tip tackle on Pearson Dallas wins that game. It was not as if Danny failed to show up in these games he played very well but the team overall did not make enough plays to win. Danny took the heat and that was wrong. As I said Roger failed in playoff games as well but the window of oppertunity was open longer during his time in Dallas than what White had.

Its easy to see that with a limited running game, Romo will easily own most if not all the single season passing records, maybe even interceptions since we throw the ball so much.

15 TD's and 16 Ints in postseason play. Like I said , I was in my early teens and my memory is not that great but had a few 3 int games in the playoffs, some of which we won despite them.

Out of 11 playoff games he had 3 int's 3 times and another 2 int game. It is kind of like I remembered.

As great as Roger was he had 24 TD and 19 ints in post season including 5 games with 2 or more ints as well as 1 game with 4 ints, 2 games with 3 ints. Again I loved Roger but I never saw him take the blame that Danny had to endure and in many cases it was not Danny fault

Shoot I'd rather have another superbowl trophy, but that's just me.

That's what I was thinking. He can have all the stats he wants. But it needs to bring a SB Trophy.
Look at Danny White, his numbers are right there with Roger Staubach, if some not better. But yet he's seen a not as good of a QB.

also, ask Dan Marino about stats........

If you say so. Not me. It is simple to see and not even a point that can be disputed where the Cowboys are concerned. We see it over and over. Run a poll right now and I will bet money that the three top QBs in the history of the franchise, according to fans, will be Roger, Troy and Romo. Danny and Don will get no ink. Don't even bring up LaBarron. That's how it is and it will probably always be that way. You specifically may not feel that way but as a whole, that's how it goes.
