Just curious if I'm going nuts here or if my analysis of that touchdown was simply off, but I heard the announcers mention the Bucs had a busted coverage. Perhaps that was true, but was it not because Romo looked into the flat and made a motion as if he was going to throw in that direction (don't know if what he did qualified as a true pump fake or not, but anyway...)? It seemed to me like that's when and why the defender bit, leaving Crayton streaking wide open. No?

that is what I saw because I remember saying to the tv "Romo, even I can follow your eyes and see who your throwing to" only to find out that guy (which I did not catch who he was looking at at first) was just a decoy as Romo quickly changed direction and threw to Crayton. He sold me on it, I am sure he sold that safety on it as well. Announcers dropped the ball on that one.

Yeah but Romo sucks and Crayton is not a #1 so anything beyond a 5 yd check down pass to him must be the result of bad defense.

I got so tired of Moose and the other guys talking about the "busted" coverage. God forbid the Dallas Cowboys' offense does something to disrupt a defense. BTW, Talib is only slightly above average in my opinion.

The big plays from Dallas are going to come from Romo's ability to "fake out" the defense just like he did on this play. The announcers can call it what they want. The fact of the matter is, the safety bit on the fake to Witten leaving Crayton wide open. If this had been Favre with Mayock calling the game, you'd hear 30 minutes of how great of a veteran move it was by Favre to move the safety out of the play with the fake. Since it's Romo, it was a busted coverage.

If Talib is slightly above average, what is Roy Williams? He shut Roy down all day. I was impressed with his play personally.

He wouldn't have shut Roy down all day if Romo would have shown a modicum of accuracy in the 1st 25 minutes of the game. The match ups are what makes the Cowboys offense potent. You could tell that alot of these "blown coverages" was due to the confusion on defense (for the bucs) on how they were going to cover some of these mismatches. The Williams TD was a direct result of the defense falling all over itself to try and find ways to minimize mismatches. Talib was on Roy all day until Bennett split out wide. Talib took Bennett and Roy took it to the house. This is what many of the pundits were praising while in San Antonio. We kept hearing how Bennet would make a difference in the game. He did. He made a huge difference and he didn't even touch the ball on that play. If Romo had been more accurate in the 1st half the Cowboys would have planted 45 points on the Bucs yesterday. The missed opportunities to Austin and Bennett (in the end zone) were disappointing, but they DO give a glimpse that the cupboard is stocked with playmakers. As a Cowboys fan, you've gotta alike that.

It was a great job of Pump faking the defender into jumping the short route. He absolutely got the guy to just eat up the fake. But, of course, there are plenty who won't want to admit that or give Romo and Crayton credit for the play. They'll just say the defense busted a coverage.

The guy responsible for Crayton absolutely bit on Romo's pump fake to the flat.

Berman and Jackson made a point to call this out on the show last night. I initially thought it was a busted play, but not after seeing the secondary react to Romo's look.
