Romo's timetable

The next two games are home games against Detroit and New Orleans.

When Dallas travels to Indianapolis on December 4, it will be 6 weeks since Romo's injury. Has anyone said anything about his timeline for returning?

I think you are quite wrong on that one. Otherwise, they would have put him on IR instead of Spears, I think. Believe Spears was on a 4-6 week timetable for return.

I wouldn't rush him back unless there outside shot for a playoffs spot. Why take that risk on your QB when the season is over.

If the OL plays the rest of the yr the way it played today, and Romo is 100% (or pretty close) he'll play.

I suspect the earliest he'd be back is for Philly on Dec 12th (which by the way is currently a Sunday night game)

If not for Philly, then probably the following week vs Washington.

The same guys saying "not this year" will be asking the same question if we win our next 2. It's a valid question until we're mathematically eliminated.

I'm probably wrong...but I don't see any reason for him to play this season.

We would be nuts to put him back in until that bone is nice and solidly healed. That usually means around 3 months. It will be so close to the end of the season and we are unlikely to be in playoff contention so I don't really see the point of putting him back in there and risking re-injury.

Exactly... They interviewed a specialist who basically said the exact same thing. Re-injury takes even longer to fully heal.

I wouldn't play Romo at all this season, even if we do somehow go on a big run -- actually, ESPECIALLY if we go on some big run. The reason I say that is because you don't want to mess with the continuity of the team at that point. Think Steve Beuerlein in 1991.

Well it needs to be week 1 in September 2011.

Agreed. Plus, Jason Garrett is auditioning to be the coach beyond this season. He needs to win as many games as possible, and having Romo back will help increase his chances of winning. I am sure they will proceed with caution, but if he is healthy enough to play, then I wouldn't be surprised if he finishes the season.

Garrett is not only being evaluated on wins.

I think Romo will be pushing to get back out there as quickly as conceivably possible. I mean look who he grew up idolizing. It KILLS Tony to be on the sideline watching! And especially if a few wins multiply and hope for a playoff birth still remains.

However, if we blow it before he has a chance to come back, I say it gets delayed a week or two more, if not entirely until next season, his return.

All great answers.

Only if there's risk of messing it up more. Or if the OL plays poorly down the stretch.

If the guy isn 100% per the docs and the OL is playing well (and yesterday would be considered "playing well") I see no issue with playing him. He's the starter, he should play if he's healthy.

He's already out of the sling. Can't wait to see him back as soon as possible.

if he is cleared to play by the docs at 100% than he will have a better chance of not breaking that collar during the game than other players. I have shattered my index finger and doc told me that my finger will probably never ever break again because of it .
