How many draft busts have has Bellicheck had in recent years and managed not to get called out on?

They squandered most of those numerous 2nd round picks they kept trading back to accumulate.

You mean I'm not the only one who noticed this? Sure, they did a great job manipulating the draft, but aside from a handful of picks, their drafts over the last few years haven't produced a whole lot.

They stockpile picks so that they can miss on a few and still compete. They are the best example of how to keep a quality team on the field in the NFL. They are not perfect, but they are the top orgsnization in the league IMO.

Tom Brady.

That's all you need.

Yeah its pretty easy to look good as a franchise once you have a franchise QB, ask the Skins or Colts on how much difference they can make in a team.

Skins and Colts go from being some of the worse teams in the NFL to both in playoff talk.

If he clears waivers i hope the Cowboys pick this guy up. Decent guy who never got on the field because of Wilfork basically. 6'3 330 is better than anybody Dallas has right now to play NT

I doubt that happens. I wonder how much is left on his contract?

It's the final season of his rookie contract.

His last game check should be $43,750.00.

That's all a team claiming Ron Brace on waivers would owe if they kept him.

3 Rings covers many sins

yeah he has been trying to rebuild that D that basically won them 3 SBs for how many years now?

It is no coincidence that they have been unable to win another.

They also have a winning record and are a threat to go to the Super Bowl every year. They are much like the Cowboys teams of the 70s. Even when Brady was injured for a year, they still won games. I have all the respect in the world for what they have been able to do.

:laugh2: You make some fine points.

I like what we did with our LB group. We saw the weaknesses James and Brooking provided... And added speed and athleticism inside with Carter and Lee.

We need to do the same upfront. We have run cloggers line Spears, Coleman (prior to injury), Brent (well....), etc.

What we lack is pass rushing from the DL. Thats what we need to acquire. Not more run stopping guys who generate a pass rush as often as the semi annual Victoria Secret sale.

What do Nose Tackle mean?

I'll throw Sylvester Williams of UNC in the ring, he's not as well known as some of the other names in this thread but he'll be in the mix once all is said and done.

I like him especially if we play to stick with the whole attacking NT concept (which I don't like), but he can also play the 5 if we want to get a traditional NT. I have no idea what's going to end up happening with Hatcher (might get pricy) or Crawford (young).

Because they have had 10 straight 10+ win seasons, 3 rings and 5 super bowl appearances.

Sorry but Williams is a 34 DE not a nose Mr. Count thats what NT mean:rolleyes:

Williams is not a 3-4 DE in the NFL, first of all.

Secondly, you burst into a thread to tells someone "no", then name a player that is neither a 3-4 NT nor a 3-4 DE.

I was just making sure you were aware you were objecting at the wrong wedding.

I do like him a lot.

The original post was about Ron Brace, who also is a 34 DE not a NT. Williams plays in a 34 almost pro defense right now why move him to NT. Sp i dont know where the NT came from if Brace is a 34 DE or a 43 DT.

lol, Brace is not a 3-4 DE either.

I don't think Williams is athletic enough to play the 5 full time, he doesn't play the 5 full time for Bama either.

When the Patriots selected defensive lineman Ron Brace in the second round of the 2009 draft, they naturally liked his physical traits. At 6-foot-3 and 330 pounds, Brace was one of the bigger, more powerful defenders available that year.

The Patriots had success in past years going that route with early-round picks, with Richard Seymour, Ty Warren and Vince Wilfork reflecting their best work with big defensive linemen.

But Brace, who grew up in Massachusetts and attended Boston College, never emerged as he or the team hoped. It is a reminder that size is a good place to start along the d-line, but more needs to come together (e.g. technique, footwork) in a player's development.

As a rookie, Brace worked as a backup nose tackle in the 3-4 alignment behind Wilfork, who was in the final year of his contract. Initially, Brace was viewed as insurance in the event Wilfork departed as a free agent.

But by the end of the year, the Patriots knew that Brace, who played 4-3 defensive tackle at BC, wasn’t a fit on the nose (he seemed to play too high at times). That tilted some leverage in favor of Wilfork at the negotiating table as he signed a five-year, $40 million deal in 2010.

In his second season, Brace was used at left defensive end in the 3-4, and it was the spot in which he made his most significant contributions, although he never carved out a full-time role.

But by his third season, Brace was passed by 2010 rookie free agent Kyle Love on the depth chart.

And with the team shifting to more of a 4-3 this year, Brace returned to the defensive tackle position but couldn’t break through, playing just 92 snaps.

In all, he played in 39 regular-season games (7 starts). He was scheduled for free agency after the season and it was unlikely that he would have been back in New England.

The Patriots have Wilfork, Brandon Deaderick and Love as their top three interior defensive linemen, with Marcus Forston on the practice squad. This is an area the club is likely to address in the offseason, via free agency or the draft.
