Ronald Jones Seems Underrated Here So Far

I don't get the lack of love for this guy. We have Pollard; we have Jones. That's actually a nice 1-2 punch. I'm not even certain we need another RB with Malik Davis and Dowdle on the roster.

In 2020, Jones had 975 yards at 5.1 YPC on 192 carries.

With Cooks, on the other side of Lamb, it's going to be hard for teams to stack the box on us too much, so I could see Jones having a similar year to 2020.

Coaches like to have guys like Pacheco win the job because it motivates the team to work hard. I'd say Rojo is maybe even a little more talented than Pacheco, and could have easily more yards than him for us this year.

In 2021, Pacheco had 170 carries for 890 yards at 4.9 yards YPC.

Could drafting another back in 2023 be overkill?
He had 17 carries on a team that was rotating backs all year and looking for something to click until the rookie finally took over. So you can talk what he did in 2020 all you want, but you have to take last year into account also. My guess is he is somewhere around halfway in between the two.

Jones is basically a guy you bring to camp, cut and sign off the streets if injuries hit. 2020 was two seasons ago, and a very weird time for the NFL.

People need to stop looking at stats. Jones is trash. He’s slower than Zeke, if you can imagine that. My friend had him in fantasy the last 2 years. Trust me. He’s trash.

Must draft one. No way around it, unless you’re into signing Pollard long term, which should have already happened if it was ever going to.

I am ambivalent about Ronald Jones for one reason, and one reason only. We only signed him because we can cut him on a whim, which is what I think (and hope) we will do at the cut down to 53.

I could see us drafting two RBs in this class in the 2-4th.

Pacheco was on the same team as Patrick Mahomes.

Jones can do EXACTL what Zeke did and probably do it better. But its still not good enough. You need another good back to team with Pollard.
Jones is more likely to be a camp causality, just brought in for camp duty.

Most wouldn't agree, but if I could grab a Gibbs and come away with a steal later with anyone of ...
Achane
Bigsby
Evans
Miller
Spears
Then this backfield becomes really serious.

Ronald Jones is a career backup RB, has suffered injuries and produced extremely low numbers the past two years (2022: 70 rushing yards; 2021: 428 rushing yards). Way worse numbers than Zeke by far!!! That's why he's getting no love so far......and shouldn't.
He may not even be on the team. He was signed as an insurance policy
If pollard is coming along well and we draft a guy I could see him getting cut
Hard to have 3 RN active if at least one doesn’t do ST. I don’t see pollard being on ST this year at all and Jones doesn’t bring much

he was barely used and didn't fit in the Chiefs scheme. He is young and has low miles. This was a great signing. I think he can help us when needed.

Running for 900 yards when teams are willing to give up the run for fear of Brady passing to Gronk, Brown, Godwin, A&MTron, Brate etc doesn’t mean you’re good… it just means teams were willing to give up the run. He’s a bust… nothing more, nothing less!

Ronald Jones is terrible. Can't block, can't catch. There's a reason he lost all his playing time in TB and couldn't get any in KC. It's not that those teams are run by idiots.

25 years old with something to prove on a minimum contract. Some fans don’t get the importance of getting quality production from a player like that. Jones just might surprise a few people. I’m looking forward to a legit and quality competition at RB.

I guess?

He hasn’t really ever delivered the type of results you are predicting.

I expect him to be a training camp body and a practice squad player from there.

Agreed. He definitely has low mileage and could have a role here.
