Romo = Matt Flynn?

What were RG3's numbers again? You know, the guy with the rookie record for passer rating.

rg3 and the skins also ran a gimmick offense. Alot of 5 yard passes, a whole bunch of fakes aka alot of smoke and mirrors. The nfl caught onto that.

Dallas has an offense based on running the ball and they use a lot of fakes and misdirection as well.

Can we all agree Dak is the future for the QB position?

Because it seems like some posters are ready to move on completely and aren't convinced he'll be a good QB.

It's honestly the overreaction culture we have. QB's have ups and downs but we don't react well with bad games or slumps because we expect to win every game. Aikman would have been run out of town his first year if the internet was where it is today. You have to look broader than a game or three or even a year to really know where a player will develop. Dak will be fine!

Dallas already has run play action 35 more times than with Romo in 2014 and still has to play two games to catch up to amount played. Plenty of the bootlegs even go through play-action off Zeke. Dak played his whole college career in shotgun.

As a drop back passer, Linehan doesn't do it much.

So the jury is still out on 'pocket' for Dak. 2-24 on third downs is not good.

And even in the Giants game, with Dunbar in on third, as opppsed to Zeke they weren't good. A lot of why we are successful is defenses are dead-scared of Zeke.

After Aikman went down in 91, Steve Beurlein came in and won five straight including a playoff game. Fans wanted the guy backing up Aikman, who before getting injured lost 3 out of the last 4 games. Jimmy Johnson started Aikman against Detroit, the better QB.

And Steve Walsh played five games and won the only game the first year as a rookie. And many fans wanted Steve.

But they better player was on the field.

I don't think anybody hates Dak or Romo, I think everybody loves the Cowboys, there are just differing opinions on what gives us the best chance to win.

Dak gives us the best chance again against TB.

But if he plays poorly again (and it's not one game it's two now) or if it turns into three, you can hope against hope but the team will make a change and the players will fall in line with it. If it happens it won't be a reflection on Dak or his future it's about giving the team a chance to win this year.

There's gonna be a lot of fans holding their breath tomorrow night for Dak because deep inside they know what's coming if it goes bad.

Personally, I think he bounces back with a good game and we keep moving forward.

Which is why the coaches know the players better than we do. They see them everyday and know if it's them playing above their head or at their ceiling vs seeing where they are going to get over their career. Whatever the coaches do they will do based on the best long term outcome balanced by what they see today.

Good post. I agree. Mostly...lemme explain:

If Dak responds to the adversity and leads us to a win on Sun, everything is hunky-dory. BUT-- if he loses 2 in a row in Dec and we slip to only having a one game lead on the Giants and our offense remains inept-- we HAVE to make a change. HAVE TO.

Not because Dak isn't the future and has all of a sudden become a bad QB. No. It's because this has become about winning the SB this year. How often are you in position to lock up HFA in Dec? Rarely. We need to roll with Romo if Dak continues to struggle. Period. Thank Dak and honor him for his performance this year-- but we need to do everything we can do to win NOW. We may not be back here for a while. Nothing is guaranteed and this is too important to the team to let Dak have a "learning moment."

Either he can prove he can win in Dec, or we roll with Romo. Dak has done enough to show that he can play in this league and he's earned the respect of this team. But it is put-up-or-shut-up time. 2-24 on 3rd down over the past 2 games is HORRID. Has to change or we won't win the NFCE let alone make a deep playoff run.
Dak can't win by himself. WRs have to catch the ball when it hit them in the hands. WRs can't fumble after Dak hits them to convert a key 3rd down. WRs can fall down on timing passes. WRs can't drop a TD pass that is momentarily in both hands.

I want to forget what i saw from the qb the last 3 games

But yet you want to go back to a guy whose last game he played, looked god awful. 3 picks and 2 of them were pick 6s. Carolina on Thanksgiving last year. In fact, he only had one good game last season and that was the Giants opening game. But Romo fans don't want to talk about last year. They want to skip that and revert to 2014 for the sake of their argument. Yet since that season, he's had 3 serious injuries and had a season last year of 5TDs/7ints.

Has not been able to physically finish back to back games in 2 seasons. Has played in a total of 4 games of the last almost 2 seasons.

That guy is going to be our savior?

So if Dak plays great tonight we wont need a savior

But if the deer in the headlights qb play continues you have to cut the cord
