All of this star stuff means nothing if the team isn't good. Bottom line, you win with good players, and the coaches that put their team in the best position to win with a few great players, and a ton of good players, usually wins.
All these other mind games and what not, doesn't matter at the end of the day.

Yeah I didn't think he would either. I liked the star concept, tho.
I did too. Although to be honest, I really hadn't thought about it since it's inception. Kinda glad to see it go with BP and that Wade does his own gig. As disappointed as I've been, I wanted it all gone....even the water fetcher aspect.

I liked the "earning the stars thing", but I always felt that everyone should get a helmet without a star. Nobody should be safe.

I thought the idea was odd because they wear the star in the preseason games yet still didn’t earn it.

What's it going to be then, eh?

The idea isn't "odd".

Many teams do it.

Coach Parcells just put his little touch to it, but it is not unique nor really all that significant.

It is only significant because it was played up as if it was a special deal. It really isn't. Just like the tape on the helmet as well. Many teams do that also, but that was a noteworthy event his first camp with us.

Odd in the sense it contradicts itself. I had never seen it done until Parcells came around. Originally i thought it was a neat idea but really it means nothing. And I think a rookies greater motivation to make the team would be to provide for themselves and their families than wanting a plastic sticker added to their helmet. Actually, the word “odd” wasn’t the original word i used...it was “dumb”.

and wade doesnt win like parcells or carry the respect in the locker room,so look for a club med type environment at valley ranch!!!

You mean, like a summer camp where the head coach tells you it's not really all that important if you come work with us or not??

Oh wait, that was Gibbs... you know, the guy who ran the EASIEST training camp in the NFL last year, perhaps the easiest in about a decade... that really turned out for Le Coach Laissez Faire, didn't it??

I don't think I'd find you such an annoying little twit if you were at least a GOOD troll... but slappin' you down is just too d***** easy... in this battle of wits, you've brought a knife to a gun fight...

A dull knife, as befits your rather dull intellect...

Heck gibbs doesnt even know where his players ARE.

To Taylor and Springs, Gibbs is the skank ho they picked up in the bar over the weekend, who's now calling them 5-6 times a day because they didn't call him back for a second date...

How can anybody else on the team fear the wrath of the head coach, when two of his players are punkin' him that way??

It's embarrassing, is what it is...

Whats with all the Commander fans around here lately...

I know they are always lurking but they seem to be a little more open these past few days.

Is it that time of the month or something?

That time of the year, actually...

You know, that time of the year when their team hasn't actually stepped on the field (or their johnsons) yet, and they can still pretend they won't be bottom feeders... that time of the year when they can woof like they're big dogs... knowing that in a matter of months, they're gonna have to go into hiding again, naturally they're eager to get in all the woofing they can...

They're to be pitied...and abused, for our amusement... so in that grand scheme of things, at least they have a certain entertainment value...

Or put another way, this troll is living proof that you should never enter a battle of wits if you're only half-armed...

Given that the moderation of this board is rather lenient (I would never have lasted this long if it wasn't!), the only question is how long it will take before this troll has reached his masochistic limits, and slinks off with his little troll tail tucked between his little troll legs...

Said I was pretty sure, but I seem to remember seeing older pics of the guys playing in helmets without the fleur de lis. I do not remember the tape though TBH.

EDIT Well I looked it up and it says it did come with payton but Im POSITIVE ive seen pics of practices without the fleur de lis on the helmet. Maybe they just did training camp that way because it was easier on the equipent guys and they did it to everyone not just rookies

Look for a club fedup type environment at your stadium of broken dreams. The Chargers defense certainly didn't look like they were club med players last season.

Shot an email to one of the beat writers and he said that "Yes, they have stars on their helmets. And no, Spencer didn't bring Wade any water."

Thought I'd post for the interested...

that sucks.

two great things that BP did, IMO.
