W/Dallas Loss:

To guarantee the 4th selection

Denver over San Diego
Bengals over Ravens
Cardinals over 49ers
Bills over Jets
Texans over Jaguars

Texans can lose but if they do we need the following to play out:

Chiefs over Raiders
Lions over Vikings
Tampa over Saints
win a coin flip

*both teams would finish with a .524 SOS and it would come down to the coin flip*

In addition to the above results, in case the 4th pick scenario does not play out or Dallas wins it's pretty simple.

Root for:

Browns over Steelers
Seahawks over Rams
Titans over Colts
Skins over Giants

We need as many combinations of these games and the one's posted above in either a Dallas win or loss to obtain the optimum draft position.

Realistically this week we could finish up picking 4th or dropping to 14th.

14th? Start the Chris in Arizona Suicide Watch then. I (we) had to endure this crappy season and all we get is the 14th pick???

We did get rid of Wade. I don't know if that's enough to keep me going though.

Also note that David Gerrard is out vs HOU

I got a feeling we'll win this sunday, remember Jason Garrett is still fighting for a job, so hopefully

HOU beats JAX
WSH beats NYG
SEA beats STL
DET beats MIN

that would put us 9th

Carolina- Aluck
Denver- NFairley
Cincy- DBowers
Buffalo- RMallet
Arizona- RQuinn
Cleveland (no way they beat Pit)- AJ Green
San Fran- PPeterson
Tennessee- MDareus
Dallas- ???

So if the Texans lose they automatically jump in front of us?

Their SOS is playing to their advantage heavily they way it's set up.

You mean between 4 and 14th right? A lot would have to happen for us to end up 14th.

If that's the case we need to trade up or trade down.

Seems to me that is where the top OL will start to fall in the draft so while the thought of Peterson looks good if we end up getting a quality OL player then I'm going to be happy about it.

I'd love some Sherrod at 14

we have twin OT's that could play either side

I would not be sad one bit

Where we pick doesn't matter. It matters that we make a right pick. As much as I want Patrick Peterson, I want to win the game more. No Eagles sweep. No last place finish.

If we were spoiling something then maybe. But w/ it being our back-ups vs theirs than its rather meaning less.

Ill root for McGee to do well and wont want any of our guys to get caught in the open field, but Peterson helps us win more games going forward

We'll pick somewhere between 8-12...of that I feel very confident.

Denver over San Diego DOESN'T MATTER
Bengals over Ravens
Cardinals over 49ers REVERSE
Bills over Jets
Texans over Jaguars

Chiefs over Raiders DOESN'T MATTER
Lions over Vikings DOESN'T MATTER
Tampa over Saints
win a coin flip NOT NECESSARY IF SF BEATS ARIZONA

*both teams would finish with a .524 SOS and it would come down to the coin flip*

More detail than you could want below, but here’s the basics of what you need to know if you want Dallas to have the highest pick possible.

Hope that:
1)Cincinnati beats Baltimore
2)Buffalo beats NY Jets
3)Houston beats Jacksonville
4)San Francisco beats Arizona
5)Tampa Bay beats New Orleans
6)Detroit beats Minnesota
7)Cleveland beats Pittsburgh
8)Seattle beats St. Louis
9)Washington beats NY Giants
If those happen, we'll be picking higher, even if we win.

Dallas will get the #4 pick if:
Houston beats Jacksonville and
Buffalo beats NY Jets and
Cincinnati beats Baltimore

If the Cowboys AND Texans lose, Dallas will get the #4 pick if:
Buffalo beats NY Jets AND
Cincinnati beats Baltimore AND
Tampa Bay beats New Orleans AND
San Francisco beats Arizona
If Buffalo AND Cincinnati win, but EITHER New Orleans OR Arizona wins, Dallas and Houston must flip for the pick.

If the Cowboys AND Texans lose, Dallas will get the #5 pick if:
EITHER NY Jets beat Buffalo OR Baltimore beats Cincinnati AND
EITHER Tampa Bay beats New Orleans OR San Francisco beats Arizona
If BOTH New Orleans AND Arizona win, Dallas and Houston must flip for the pick.

If the Cowboys AND Texans lose, Dallas will get the #6 pick if:
BOTH NY Jets AND Baltimore win
No other games matter.

If the Cowboys win, Dallas will get the #7 pick if:
Detroit beats Minnesota AND
Cleveland beats Pittsburgh AND
Seattle beats St. Louis AND
Houston beats Jacksonville AND
Any two of Baltimore, NY Jets, San Francisco, OR Tampa Bay win.
If only one of those four teams wins, Dallas and Houston must flip for the pick.
If all four lose, Dallas picks #8.

If Cowboys win, Dallas will pick one pick lower for each of these teams that lose:
Detroit, Cleveland, Seattle, San Francisco, Washington or Houston
They cannot fall below #13(I was mistaken earlier when I said #14 because if Seattle beats St. Louis, they will go to the playoffs and can pick no lower than #20).

On draft day, do you honestly feel that way when the player you were holding out hope for gets snatched a pick or two before we pick??? Really?

Of course we never know what will happen 3-5 years later, no one does.

If TB beats NO, and STL beats SEA or SF beats ARZ, we will pick ahead of WSH no matter what.

IF NO beats TB, then we need to hope SF beats ARZ and STL beats SEA

I think we'll end up picking 5th or 6th, and we'll still get Peterson or Amakumara.

Has anyone worked out some likely scenarios for the other games, assuming we lose? That 4th selection looks impossible.

Let's say all the favorites win (which I know is unlikely)... Where would we be? Even a range would be nice. :)
