According to Josh Ellis from official website...

I think it's safe to say everyone saw this coming.

I thought Rossum was already released. I was wondering what happened to him. I know he got hurt but wasn't sure if he was already released or what.

He was rehabbing from a hamstring injury on his first and only kickoff for us. I guess Jerry wanted to wait till he was healthy so they didn't have to reach an injury settlement?

Allen Rossum released

The Cowboys have released return specialist Allen Rossum and signed cornerback Cletis Gordon.

Rossum's return home did not go as planned. He returned one kickoff for 14 yards and suffered a hamstring injury that kept him on the sideline for the last month.

Gordon was with the Cowboys for one game earlier this year before his release. His signing was necessary because of the injury to safety Ken Hamlin forced Alan Ball in the lineup, weakening the cornerback spot.

Cletis Gordon-DB- Cowboys Nov. 23 - 1:17 pm et

Cowboys re-signed CB Cletis Gordon.

Dallas is thin because Alan Ball has taken over as the club's starting free safety with Ken Hamlin (high ankle sprain) out indefinitely. Gordon, 26, knows Wade Phillips' scheme and can immediately step in as a dime corner.

Allen Rossum-DB- Cowboys Nov. 23 - 1:15 pm et

Cowboys released DB Allen Rossum.

Rossum, signed five weeks ago as return help, was hurt for the entirety of his stay on the roster. Patrick Crayton has settled in as the team's punt returner, with Felix Jones on kicks. Rossum, 34, is at the end of the line.

Tony Romo-QB- Cowboys Nov. 23 - 1:10 pm et

Tony Romo is fully expected to start on Thanksgiving against Oakland despite suffering a back injury in Week 11.

Beat writer Todd Archer speculates that Romo could be limited in practice early this week, but the Cowboys probably won't prepare Jon Kitna to play. Romo may have to take a pain-killing injection before the game, but he'll start.

Hated the Rossum signing from the start. Not enough room for multiple guys who only do 1 thing a couple times per game.

Surprised they have signed a dedicated FG holder.

Rossum the Possum got the axe and we brought back Cletis the CB.

Sometimes you just gotta laugh. Not being mean here just the idea of getting a guy, he plays one down and he is gone and also the idea of signing a CB named Cletis not once but twice.

Hoofbite, main thing with rossum signing was how rossum helped crayton on returning punts. Remember crayton said so and demarcus ware also said that rossum helped him some on defensive plays, etc.

So is this a sign Jenkins is hurt more than we think? We are looking mighty thin at CB if Jenkins is out. Also, can he use Dave Campo to demonstrate a jam technique like Terence Newman?

No..its for depth where a corner already knows the scheme.
