That could happen.

Showers was narrowly beaten out at A&M by Manziel, then transferred; he has some talent.

Manziel narrowly beating out Showers does not say much to me.........
But point taken, will be interesting to see him in TC.

Why all the "dislike" for Devin Street lately.
He had limited playing time for a 1st WR, which most take a good 3 years to show anything at all. He had Dez, TWill, Beasley ahead of him, as well as Harris too.
I predict he makes a big jump to as why he was drafted.
They will not keep 2 rookie WR's from the group of UDFA's they have, unless they keep 6 on the roster.

There is no reason for it backed up by anything tangible on the field. People are clamoring about his lack of production as the fifth wide receiver last year, while projecting two undrafted rookies to take his spot. For others it's the ability to play ST and or some combination of these two reasons. I think the Cowboys understand that WR is generally the hardest position to transition to the NFL and that is/was one of our deepest positions. I don't think there is any chance they give up on the guy after one year.

Surprise cut: Dunbar
Surprise stay: Whaley

Hanna could very well be a surprise cut. He improved as a blocker last season, but I think it's a contract year for him. I don't think he's done enough to warrant keeping as TE3. My guess is Dunbar will be a surprise(but not really!) cut. DMac can do everything Dunbar can do and more with more size. If Days is stout enough and willing enough to lead block, he could possibly serve dual purposes as RB4 and FB making whoever the current FB is expendable along with Dunbar, saving a roster spot.

Surprise keeper in this scenario would be Synjyn Days. Not really expecting much, but an UDFA rookie power back who knocks someone else off the roster would be a shocker!

Seems almost every year the team cuts someone that takes most off guard, and keeps a player that around this time of the year most fans gave little shot to make the roster.

Who do you think will be this years surprise additions and subtractions to this years regular season roster

It's hard to pick surprises because most of the guys usually listed aren't really a surprise if they are cut (since there's reason to cut them, like Carr's salary) or if they are kept (such as a late-round pick).

So, I'm going to go out on a limb:

Surprise cut: MacKenzy Bernadeau (he has a $1.5 million base and counts $2.8 against the cap, which isn't bad if he's the primary backup ... of course, Leary will have to show he can play center)

Surprise keep: Reggie Dunn (everyone is looking to the UDFA receivers brought in for a replacement for Dwayne Harris; Dunn had five 100-yard kickoff returns in three years at Utah, including two in one game against California)

I'm not sure if that is true. I think Dunbar offers something that no one else on the roster offers, Randle and Williams on the other hand don't really give you much of a difference. You want a guy like Dunbar, but do you need Randle and Williams? And that's assuming McFadden makes the team. A lot of people consider him the starter, but I wouldn't be surprised if he gets cut.

Yeah I agree that Dunbar does some things that the other running backs can't, but is it enough to warrant a valuable roster spot? Dunbar's greatest ability is his shiftiness in open space, but I've seen enough of Randle that I believe he can still have plenty of success in the open field and at the second level.

All I'll say is there is a chance that Geoff Swaim will be cut.

Relax. I said a chance.

I know why you said relax, because some people will have a stroke if you say one player the Cowboys drafted isn't good or isn't going to make cuts..
