anyone really think the QB who went 0-16 is better than Brad Johnson... enough to win important games?

As a QB, how do you go 0-16 and get a better job? I would take my chances with the rookie!

You do know Kitna only started 4 games last season right??? And was placed on IR by Week 5.

One correction needs to be made to the above-- Kitna was not a free agent, he was of course acquired via the trade route... that was a brain cramp on my part...

I was just about to post that and decided to go all the way through the thread fist and saw that you caught it yourself. We traded Anthony Henry for him of course.

Otherwise, I like what we have done this offseason. No big names, no primmadonnas, no headcases, no QBs trying to play another position, no project players, none of the kind of guys Jerry has been so enamored with the past 15 years or so, just good, solid football players!

I love the pickups on defense via FA: Olshansky, Brooking, & Sensabaugh are all very good players and fill a need on the team quite nicely. All 3 were relatively cheap and all are hard workers and team players.

I wanted Brooking in the 1998 draft (we took Ellis instead) and, even though he is on the downside of his career, he can really help us, especially in the leadership area.

I think we addressed the Safety issue pretty well with Sensabaugh, Mike Hamlin, and now White. That was an area of obvious weakness and now it isn't. Got to give props to the staff for taking care of that for us. :D

I like the rookies we brought in as well. In a way, we are probably fortunate that Brandon Williams and Stephen Hodge are on IR because we would have a log-jam at LB if they were healthy. It will be nice to have them back next year when the position will be a bit more settled (well the backups anyway) and they can find a place a bit easier.

On offense, I hope we never have to see Kitna in a game when it matters but it is nice to have a guy that can play and can actually throw the ball still. The fumbled snaps are a problem of course but if he were all that then the Lions wouldn't have traded him.

John Phillips and Kevin Ogletree were nice rookie surprises and should get the chance to play some this year. I am especially excited about Ogletree and hope he can step up and make some plays for us since none of our WRs after Roy excite me all that much.

I can't say that I am excited about Beeler (Like Hos, I am not into kickers) but I am looking for a solid contribution on kickoffs. Gaining 5-10 yards on each kickoff would make his roster spot well worth it.

This year should be our year. I know a lot of people are saying 2010 or 2011, but I believe this is it right now! We have what we need talentwise and more than that we have the right attitude. The TEAM mentality this offseason is different than it has been in a long time. THAT's what wins championships in the NFL!

Go Cowboys!!! :starspin :starspin :starspin

It would have been nice to see 1 or 2 more OL on that list, which of course would have also meant that Procter would be gone.

I love all the changes. On paper I think we look better.

It's weird, how quickly this thread about the new players on the roster turned into yet another extended whinefest about Carpenter...

Guess y'all don't have any opinions about the new players... but hey, thanks for crappin' up the thread... :D

I thought that was weird as well. Thanks for the research. 15 players is some pretty serious roster churning IMO.

I agree with most of this. I really like what we've done with the roster. I'm still waiting to see the increased discipline and work ethic translate into fewer stupid mistakes. All in all, we're in good shape, either way.

I like what's going on for the most part although I don't like the depth in areas.
