I stopped reading when I saw Patrick Willis the 4th overall selection
Too bad. You missed some other laughable projections: Robert Meachem going at 11, David Harris going at 15, Michael Bush going in the first round, Marshawn Lynch going at 31 -- just to name a few.

This takes the prize for dumbest mock draft I've seen to date.

Found the part in the "Notes" section interesting. :D

NFL Draft Countdown

Strengths:
Smooth athlete with fluid hips...Has excellent range and excels in coverage...Very instinctive and a playmaker with solid hands and ball skills...He plays fast and has superb timed speed...A physical player who will throw his body around...Reliable tackler who can lay the lumber and will play the run...Very versatile and could play a number of roles in the secondary...Smart and a hard worker who is reportedly a leader...Durable and productive with lots of experience against elite competition.

Weaknesses:
Lacks the ideal bulk that you look for...Needs to get stronger...His reckless style of play has led to injuries and durability is a big question mark...Has some major character concerns and a number of incidents that will need to be checked into.

Notes:
Could potentially play either safety spot and maybe even corner in the pros...Was caught on tape stomping and kicking a player who was on the ground during the infamous Miami / Florida International brawl...He returned fire at an assailant who shot his roommate in the offseason prior to his senior year but no charges were filed because he owned the gun legally...A potential first rounder based on talent alone but he will likely fall in the draft due to all of the off-the-field considerations.

I dont think he will be a first rounder but surely a second.

He has speed and he can stick.

But..........

He was stomping on FIU players during that Melee and he did pull his 'heat' from his back when he was shot at after returning to his apartment from a morning summer workout at the "U".

I like his swagger and athletic ability. He will be a good saftey for someone.

That's a normal day at the U :D

I like him already! He's smart enough to LEGALLY own a weapon and knows when to use it. He knows the law. The only question I would have about him was his involvement in the fight, but an interview should clear that up.

I like the idea of 2 safeties who are physical, especialy when he is a ball hawk.

I did see a contradiction in the article. It said he was durable then the next paragraph is said he lacked durability.

This guy severely overvalues LB'ers.

Willis is a late-first round talent while Harris and Davis are 2nd/3rd round types.

To be taken 4th overall, you need to be an elite, blue-chip player. Willis is not.

He is a hitter alright. He doesnt weight much and isn't physically imposing but he will stick his nose in it without thought.

He is an instinctive player like Ed Reed but will stick his nose in it like Sean Taylor.

Kenny Phillips though is a S at Miami also. He is just a true sophomore but has way more potential than Merriweather does.

Remember him, he will be a Top 10 pick when he comes out

allowing Roy Williams to play closer to the line of scrimmage and Pat Watkins to learn the nickel from Aaron Glenn, who's close to retirement.

A 6'5'' Nickelback? We would be screwed against teams with good TE's or Fast Slot WR's.

And how would that be different from last year? :D

That's the 3rd prominent mock draft I've seen having us taking Meriweather. I swear these guys just copy and paste sometimes. There is absolutely zero possibility that we take Meriweather in my opinion.
im wit ya on that:hammer:

Wait, I just actually read the blurb they had. It says that the move would allow Pat Watkins to learn the nickel role from Aaron Glenn who is about to retire. What the hell are they talking about??? Watkins playing nickel CB? These guys are idiots.

If they draft a safety with the first or second pick then that will tell you they are not thinking of regarding starting Watkins. Perhaps I should say they would rather have a better option than starting Watkins.

If it's Roy and another then Watkins needs to get in the ball game and I only see nickel and dime coverage available for him to play.

To me that is what got Bryan Pata killed.

Some players on each team maybe had friends off the field that were rivals of each other and it spilled over onto the field that led to this tragedy that claimed a life.

I'm not placing all the blame on Brandon, but I don't see the Cowboys, drafting him.

if meriweather is there in the 2nd round do we take him?

Yahoo's latest mock:

22. Dallas Cowboys – Brandon Meriweather, safety, Miami (Fla.). Down the stretch, opponents had a far too easy time making plays over the top in pass coverage. Meriweather would put a stop to that and could become a huge difference-maker in the sense that his arrival would allow All-Pro safety Roy Williams to advance up in the box where he is a one-of-a-kind playmaker. If they slide starting cornerback Anthony Henry inside to safety, Texas cornerback Aaron Ross could be the pick here.

Just another mock in my book. Nothing surprising to me about someone else outside the organization thinking we go FS at 22 which will not happen.

Outside of maybe the top four or five picks, its nearly impossible to say who is really ranked anywhere. Goose says he doesn't even start to make his rankings until teams start to assemble their draft board in early April, because everything is up in the air until then and all these internet sites are just making blind guesses and regurgitating what they've read elsewhere.

As far as Merriweather goes, I'm a little torn on him. His skill set is perfect for what we need, and he probably would be in the Landry category if not for the character flags. He's almost like Michael Irvin ... a natural leader and a fiery competitor who has a passion for the game, but almost too dumb for his own good.

A week ago when Porter was released everyone was saying we needed someone with Joey Porter's personality on the team. Well, Porter was ejected for starting a brawl after allegedly spitting on William Green in pregame warmups.

Why not? If Landry is there at 22 then watch how fast he goes. There are five top FSs with good speed, height and weight and no CBs except Bennett out of SC worth looking at as a FS.

This is very good year to be looking for a FS. I don't know next year but I don't see us looking past one unless someone very good at another position drops that far. And I don't know who that would be although I admit they could draft another position as well as FS.

What position and/or person is Dallas going to draft at 22?

Yep. Someone will have to explain to me why we wouldn't draft someone with elite talent at a position of EXTREME weakness last year (and the three years before that).
