Roughing Peyton

Was that not the biggest piece of bullcrap call you have seen? Seriously...He didn't even go down, and was barely moved!

I could be mistaken, but did it not look like there might have been a holding penalty not called on the offense on that same play?

Either way, that call was CRAP!
We will get a call like that in our favor in the coming weeks. No need to worry...

Even C.Simms on the CBS call flatly stated it was an awful call:bow:

takes balls to go against the pcorrect call

The Browns lost to the Steelers today partly due to how protected QBs have become. I can't remember ever seeing a play quite like it, but a Browns' lineman had a scrambling Roethlisburger wrapped up and on his way to a sack when he suddenly stopped the tackle and put his hands up looking around for a flag. I don't know if he thought the ball had been thrown away or what but he simply stopped and Roethlisburger backed away from him and completed a key pass.

Yes, the roughing penalty was absolutely ridiculous. I saw one a few weeks ago against Cincinnati that was just as bad if not worse.

It deserved to be called. Spears didn't need to touch him.

dumb players do dumb things.
hard to slow down 300 pounds.

Maybe the reason Spears did it is because that kind of "nudge" after the throw takes place 20-30 times a game, every game, every season and its never called.

Wanna bet that Romo had the same thing done to him at least 10-15 times in the game? It just doesn't count when it happens to a non-Peyton. I swear, I've never seen a QB be able to lobby in the officials' ears while they're huddled as much as Peyton gets to.

It was a crap call because of how lightly Peyton was hit, but it was just as stupid a play...it's not like the guy ran into him lightly by accident...the idiot had no reason to even breath on Manning and purposely threw a shoulder into him...a wuss hit, but totally unnecessary and stupid...I have no problem with the penalty because of the way it occurred rather than the intensity...it could just as easily been called "unnecessary roughness" or "unsportsmanlike"....take another look...he did it intentionally even though it amounted to nothing.
COMPLETELY AGREE.

The ref should have warned Spears and left it at that. A 15 yard penalty is like a guaranteed score when made against Indy. Fortunately Roy popped Clark in the endzone and got a pick to end that drive.

wasn't that like 30 yards the COlts eventually earned from that penalty? that's freakin' huge

I agree it was BS, but why even nudge the guy. Don't even give the reffs the option to make a bogus call like that.

Spears slowed down and then slammed into him ...... it was an intimidation tactic that gave them a firstdown ...... dumb play by spears.

Spears only mistake is doing it to Manning.

He could do it to any other QB all day long, just like Romo and every other QB in the league had it done to them all game long today.

That was as bad a call as the fifteen yd face mask in the skins game.
If that wasn't Manning I doubt it gets called. I usually don't say those types of things.
Agree.
Mr. Commercial gets the call.
The NFL is un-fair when it comes to it's star players.
Guys who are regular players are not treated the same way by the refs.

True enough, but Spears tossed a shoulder at him. It was completely unnecessary. Maybe sometimes it doesn't get called, but Spears had no reason to even give the refs the option.
