Roy Flashing Hook "Em Sign on Felix Screen Pass Touchdown

RW has played a nice role as a complimentary WR. He can be a guy to jump in if one of the other 2 are hurt.

Problem is, you can't pay a backup $5M a year. If they can get that down to a more manageable #, then I'm all for him coming back next year. He seems to have become more of a team player. Those seem in short supply in the lockerroom as is.

He's not giving the "Hook 'em horns" salute.

He's giving the Ronnie James Dio salute !!!

They're paying Sam Hurd $3m to play special teams. I could see them paying Roy $3-5m as long as he continues to contribute.

1) I think everyone can or should agree that Roy's attitude is first class

2) I think we can all agree he's super overpaid and unless he takes a massive paycut (which I could see him doing after all those years on a losing team) he won't be around next year

3) The Longhorn thing wears on me. Full disclosure I went to A&M, but that's not why. I actually tried transferring to UT but just because Austin is a cooler own and it was still in-state cheap. I just don't like the association of any college to our pro-team...I want our guys to be all about OUR team, and I can't imagine that doesn't annoy some teammates...Now at least its something synonymous with the state of Texas, but still I think its silly. Imagine if all of the sudden you have random college stuff going off from several players.

All in all I like Roy, I think his time with us is probably done just in the interest of youth movements, but I'm allf or keeping him if he takes a massive paycut...a good locker room guy/leader.

You can see it in my sig., but the video demonstrates the whole play... hook 'em horns sign and all!!

Roy seals off a textbook block and creates a seem for Felix to run into. The blocking on this play is so good by all people, but especially by Roy because he never even looks behind him to see if Felix is coming. He just sees it by the way the defender is reacting.

Once the "convoy" as Aikman calls it, gets out in front, Roy is still holding off his man with ease. So he holds up the hook 'em sign at the end.

I really hope we keep the guy. I know there are a lot of haters. Roy is just funny and he really came through on that play. It's the definition of selflessness when a WR makes the key block for a long TD. If RW misses that block, the hole gets shut down and Felix likely never takes it to the house.

All thanks to hairic for the clip. This is from the internet.

Roy needs to get over his "Hook em' Horns" obsession. I understand that he is proud of being a Longhorn, and I have no problem with him feeling that way, but this is the Cowboys, and when good things happen on the field his mind should be on this team and not 2 teams ago.

You guys kill me thinking we can just trade away proven talent and somehow just "get a WR that can play the slot" like NFL talent grows on trees.

You all really need to get the words "starter" and "backup" out of your vocab sometimes. The reality is that we use 3 WR sets alot of times and even when we don't we change out our WR's alot as well. We use Roy, Dez, and Miles throughout the game each gets alot of snaps. 5 million for what Roy has been doing for us this season is hardly a big deal. To say he's massively overpaid as one of the main WR's on this team is ridiculous. His contract is fine, and he's been a solid contributor for us this season.

What does it hurt? I don't see much being made out of other celebration activity by players. As long as he is not costing the Cowboys 15 yards it is not an issue. Except for those who don't like the Longhorns I guess.

Or maybe its not an obsession and its more the fact that Roy was extremely happy to come back and play in his home state and its less about something he did in college and more about having pride playing for his hometown (state) team? Ever think of that?

Jeeze.. guy has been class act ever since he came here, has a great attitude, worked to get better, wants to contribute in any and every way possible, and people still try and jump on his case for the littlest things.

You didn't know you could call 1-800-receivr? (misspelled on purpose)

It doesn't necessarily hurt, but it's just a personal annoyance for me that his reaction to Cowboy success is to pay tribute to the Longhorns. It makes you wonder if he's still living in the past to a degree.

I thought his salary was in the $1.7mm range.

If it's something he's done his whole career, I doubt he's going to stop just because he's playing for Dallas.

With that said, alot of players who score have their own personal celebration.

T.O. does his T.O. sign. Tashard Choice does T.C. Some guys kneel in celebration. Some point to the sky. Some dunk the ball over the field goal.

All harmless individual celebrations that don't cost the team 15 yards, which is all that matters to me.

He is playing in the state of Texas he went to UT believe it not many Longhorn fans are also Cowboy fans. I think this has more to do with your own dislike of Texas Longhorns than RW. If it does not bring 15 yarders who cares? Fact is he makes that gesture when we make big plays I hope he is flashing the longhorn gesture allot more because if he is we are making the plays we need to make to win games and that is what matters

Ok, I just checked. You're right. Not sure where I got the $3m number from.

Even so, my original point still stands. $3-5m for an actual offensive contributor is not overly expensive as long as he's in the top 3 for the WR corp.

This has nothing to do with a dislike of the Longhorns. I don't root for the Horns in every game they play, but I do in most, and I have cheered my *** off for them when they have had a chance to win the national championship. The Rose Bowl in Vince Young's senior year was one of the best college games I've ever seen. You are trying to attach (manufacture) an explaination for my thoughts that just isn't there.

As for many Longhorn fans being Cowboy fans, what in the world is your point? Of course there are. Whatever collegiate loyalties Cowboy fans have has nothing to do with this.

And as I said, it's just a personal annoyance, so you can argue with me all you want, but we all have personal annoyances and this is one of mine. I already said that it really doesn't hurt anything, and I agree with Woody'sGirl that he isn't likely to change this (never said he was) so what is there for you to argue or disagree with?

Sorry I just never hear you hound other players for their celebrations.

How about that big catch on third and long? HUGE play right there.

The guy has had some problems since coming here but he has shown nothing but heart and class and is a big asset to this team.

Why do I have to argue or disagree with your point? Roy's hook 'em horns sign bothers alot of people.

I quoted you, because I just wanted to make a comment as part of the discussion. That's what we do on the Zone, remember?
