A source with knowledge of the situation tells us that X-rays on the collarbone of Cowboys receiver Roy Williams were unexpectedly negative.

Multiple sources tell us that the initial diagnosis was a broken collarbone. One source tells us that Williams himself told multiple teammates that the collarbone was broken.

For now, Williams has gone home for the evening. He'll ice the area, and the team is expected to conduct an MRI on Friday.

We apologize for jumping the gun on this one. We assumed (***-you-me) that the information was based on an X-ray, and it's our fault for not ensuring the proper degree of clarity.

So it's good news for Williams and the Cowboys.

Unless the MRI shows a break.

An MRI wouldn't show a break....it's for imaging soft tissue not bone.

Williams' suffered a sprained left shoulder when he collided with
Orlando Scandrick near the end of Thursday night's open practice. We
do not yet know the timetable for his return.

The Dallas Morning News cites two sources as saying X-rays on Roy E. Williams' shoulder/collarbone were negative.

Profootballtalk.com was originally told that Williams sustained a broken collarbone, but a second source corroborated the Dallas Morning News report of a negative X-ray. There's no timetable for Williams' return, but this certainly increases his chances of being ready for the season opener.

You have to know when to dial it back some, imo.

Hurt the other guys, not your own.

Roy Williams is the best WR in the East.

holy relief........I mean what the _____ is Florio smoking? Remember, NBC links up w/ this clown and PFT. Unreal......yeah RW could be down for 3-4 weeks but I'm still relieved. A broken collarbone for a WR is like a knee injury to a RB. Very serious to a career.....Hopefullly he'll be ready by opening day...if not, then by the Giants game.
