I can be a leading Roy basher but he is really playing some ball right now.
I wondered if he saw something on the long Galloway reception, that I thought he might of screwed up on, that lead to the int later. From what I could see on TV it looked like the same play.

Maybe he knew it was coming, but he couldnt have known that the ball would be underthrown. Galloway had him beat...

The ball wasn't underthrown that bad.... I think the ball would have hit Galloway right in the stomach if Roy had not gotten there. It wasn't like Roy dove for it five yards in front of Galloway.

so I guess Zach THomas is your DPOY then?

roy has like 40 tackles...hell be lucky to break 65 this year. Ill take the other Dolphin Jason Taylor especially if he continues to score TDs

When a safety only has 40 tackles that just means other people on the team are getting their job done usually.

see original post of the front 7...dont get me wrong i love that RW is getting the picks and getting them when it matter i.e. in the redzone and on deep routes. But he wont get DPOY because of his rep...he jus wont. he could get 10 picks this year and not get it.

I agree. The worst part about it is his picks have come at great times. 4th quarter against Carolina, Colts going in to score intercepts the ball right at the end zone, 7-7 tie with bucs on a deep pass, just to name the few off the top of my head. He atleast deserves to be in the DPOY talks in my book.

talks of coarse, and imagine if we had a solid FS playing with him...now davis has played better lately but i jus remember RWs rookie year when woodson was playing he had like 95 tckls 5 ints. also grant it he was a FS then but i dnt think RW has reached his prime and i could see him as a DPOY with numbers like say 85tckls 4 sacks and say 5-6 picks along with a couple TDs like the game winner against philly.

I don't know about the NFL, but he's definately our DPOY. He seems to be everywhere the past several games, & his 5 ints. are tied for second in the league. I truly believe he is the reason Colt receivers started dropping very catchable balls by the second half of last weeks' game. When you hear the footsteps of "The Beast", you think twice about giving yourself up.

That INT he had made me think of what might have been on that long TD to Plaxico if the referee wouldn't have gotten in the way. His angle of approach was very similar.

It must be absolutely ridiculous of all of us to consider the fact that Roy might have adjusted TO THE BALL.

Scenario 1: The ball is thrown on target and Roy destroys Galloway as the ball arrives.... just like he's done hundreds of times during his career.

Scenario 2: The ball is underthrown and Roy adjusts to go up and grab the interception.

What's funny nowadays is that all the Roy bashers have to come up with these ludicrous WHAT IF situations to bash Roy this season.
As always, they can always grab 1 or 2 plays out of the entire season to harp on... but with every week, the Roy defenders have more and more ammunition to beat back the haters.

Roy has been too inconsistent in my mind to be DPOY, yes i know he leads the league in takeaways but that can be misleading as for example in baseball, you have guys like Manny Ramirez in baseball that is a horrible outfielder but always is among the leaders in assists for throwing people out trying to run on him. Does that make him a gold glover???? of course not, he gets chances for assists because they run on him as they dont respect him because they know more often than not they will be able to get the extra base.

Now im not saying Roy is a Manny Ramirez on D because that would be a tremendous insult to Roy as Roy is a pro-bowl type player but this season he is not at the level of DPOY, he has gotten beat this year almost as much as the number of great plays hes made and thats because they dont respect him in coverage and so they keep attacking him. so Roy either makes the play or he doesnt. Like Newman does he have great INT numbers??? no but he rarely gets beat in coverage and doesnt allow big plays and thats y he is maybe the best CB in the game. Stats can just be misleading but i'll still take Roy on my team anyday!!!

Don't know about that, but I think his spot in the Pro Bowl is secure.

Something funny. So I'm over at some friends house for Thanksgiving. And one of the guys there who knows I'm a Cowboys fan started talking smack about the team. Anyway, he went on and on about how Roy sucks in coverage. Then Roy gets another interception. It was actually beautiful to see him try to talk while trying to get his foot out of his mouth.

That's almost as good as Hos' story. Great day all around for us Cowboy fans. Now, where's that pie.....................

He's allowed just 3 TD's through 10 games of the season.

its not just about TD's given up but big plays that set up eventual TD's. now if Roy had even had a bit of solid play earlier in the year from the FS position then he probably would be DPOY because he wouldnt have as much responsibility as he's had trying to help bail out the rookie Watkins or at times Davis. it hasnt all been his fault

I see interceptions like block shots in the NBA. Sure, they look pretty on the stat sheet, but if going for them consistently puts you out of position, then they are worthless.

Can't say I see Roy as DPOY.

I love it when things come together that way ... you must have been grinning ear to ear. By the way ... what closet to he hide in after being facialed like that.

I haven't taken the time to look, but I would be curious to know the stats of guys like Ed Reed, Polamalu, Shawn Taylor -- in other words, the guys routinely billed as "better" players than Roy.

Interceptions aren't the only stat that matters. If they are, then our arguments for Newman's greatness are shot to heck. But Roy's undeniably a catalytic player. He has his flaws and does get beat occasionally. But his bone-crushing -- oftentimes, momentum-turning -- hits and ability to create turnovers are a huge asset for this team.

Sometimes, I honestly think we're too "picky" with our superstar players, whether it be Roy getting beat, Newman allowing more catches than he's often "credited" for here, TO dropping passes, etc, etc.

Everyone's flawed and will make mistakes. It's the overall body of work that matters.
