Don't laugh - if it ever happened - it would not surprise me in the least mainly because I question the guys desire. He got what he wanted ($), let's see how this season pans out.

Well, Sarge, I'd be surprised but not shocked. I feel sorry for Roy. He just can't handle the negative publicity and his self doubts are so transparent. He's really a nice guy. Man, as soon as I wrote that I had a jolt. That's close to saying she really has a nice personality.

Sweet. So he is going to retire at the end of the season.

Too bad he doesn't retire now and save all of us the pain of watching him this season.

I even talked to Jerry about it. He said don’t even worry about it. He said I am not worried about you performing on the football field."
That is not good news IMHO.

I'm not laughing at all Sarge, big RW fan here and I hope he can turn it around. I was just poiting out that this thread is going to be filled with lame, obvious, unfunny jokes about retiring at the end of next season. Just look at the top of the page. Beaten dead horse is dead.

I think Jerry said that in the sense that i know you're going to get it together. I'm not worried about whether you can play kind of comment. Which to me is good news. It might make it easier for Williams if he can get this support from his coaches, and owner.

I think its fair to critique Roy's play and expect value on his contract.

But why would anyone hope he retires until we see that we have a better option in place. Shoot Hamlin isn't even signed and someone want's Roy to retire?

Roy, God told me to tell you to retire now and give the last two years of your salary to charity.

Jones is not worried if you want to stay on. Minimum wager earner as hotDOG seller in the stands should you suit you just fine.

At least that way when you eat a salaries worth, jones will only be putting out 6.50 an hour and you won't need to keep up with a receiver - it's one step at a time.

YOu won't have to worry about being cut because you're already in the stands. :lmao:

Do any opf you remember right before the draft that brought Roy, he made a statement that he only wanted to play for five years?

It seemed at that time like he wasn't as motivated to play in the league for a long time.

Are we seeing this come to the fore now in his play?

That's been my theory for awhile TD.

I remember those comments in 2002. I'm not convinced he was in for the long haul.

Wow, how time flies!

I would bet that most of the people dogging Roy today were some of the same people that were on Roy's side during the debates with Commanders fans about who was a better player between Roy or Sean Taylor when he was alive.

Now Roy just plain suck, right Rampage? Or is that BigBadRoy? :laugh1:

I opened this thread so hoping it was the Lions' Roy Williams who said that.

Rats!
