Roy Williams-DB- Bengals Nov. 13 - 12:52 pm et

Bengals placed SS Roy Williams on injured reserve with a re-fractured forearm, ending his season.

Chinedum Ndukwe will close out the year as Cincinnati's starting strong safety, and Hard Knocks hero Tom Nelson will be active on game days. Williams' forearm injuries have become chronic, costing the once-feared safety nearly all of 2008 and 2009. Williams was on a one-year contract with the Bengals. The club will likely look for a long-term upgrade this offseason.

Chalk up another good move for Jerry this year. So sad though, he was so promising after first couple years. My how he is fallen.

Too bad for RW. The Bengals are doing pretty good this year.

I would say this is career-ending. He basically quit when he was here. Found guys, I mean God.

He said he stopped "playing angry" after he rededicated himself to Jesus. I'd say that was pretty awful for his NFL career.

Reggie White was able to balance both his religion and his career. Roy was too selfish to try that out, so he went the lazy route and justified it by pointing to his religion.

He only let down his fans, teammates, coaches, and organization in the process... no biggie. He found himself some Jesus and that's apparently all that matters!

i agree that he shouldn't have stopped his aggressive play....instead of just playing angry...he should have found another way

I'd say Reggie balanced his life with steroids hence the outbursts and crying in 95 and then his early death.

Reggie White actually rebuked himself at the end of his life, saw in the final months of his life that he found himself to be asinine for dubbing himself "Minister of Defense" and behaving as if God needed to or was obligated to use him.

Brian Dawkins is one of the most religious guys in the league and he played and still plays at a high level. God has nothing to do with RW31's poor play. Fat wallet has more to do with it if you ask me.

You can ascribe whatever weight you want to 'deathbed conversions'.

Nothing wrong with Roy W finding something else to be his life's focus: The problem comes when you continue to bilk your team of money and skill while playing.... At some point it is just time to walk away. Or you'll get the boot, usually a lot less graciously.

Now he may not even recognize this as being applicable.

And certainly I don't think that breaking his forearm a number of times has any relation to his lacking intensity.

All that pointing he did over here hurt his forearm.

Weird. I heard he broke it trying to get a knife out of his back from his time in Dallas.

That fall from All-Pro to has-been was pretty quick.

I imagine he will try to come back next year.

Time is running out, though.

He was a good player for the Cowboys for the most part and was a good person. Good luck.
