Roy Williams (WR)... who starts on the other side? Holt? another FA?

I think Austin, personally.

Crayton is effective as the number 3.

Either Hurd or Stanback or Draft pick as number 4.

You gotta give Austin an opportunity.

He has every attribute imaginable except experience.

we didn't put a 2nd-round tender on Austin to stash him on the roster

And if somebody wants to stick it to the Cowboys, offering Austin a poison pill contract would do the job right about now, wouldn't it?

lol at ESPN ignoring Miles Austin. Austin was playing ahead of Crayton, at times, when healthy last year.

Stash, I was thinking about that as well.

If JJ thought a couple of weeks ago that he may cut TO, I'm a bit surprised he didn't tender Austin with a 1st rounder - just to make sure.

I don't think we will lose Austin, but if you're cutting your number 1 WR, and if your number 2 WR could be Austin, I wouldn't have risked losing him for a 2nd round tender.

That's my thinking.

Instead you tag Austin at the same level as Cory frickin' Procter?

Sorry but this whole things just looks like poor planning to me.

I think their best move at this point would be to approach Austin about a long-term deal. More money now (in a signing bonus) and less later.

But I think this team is extremely vulnerable at this point in time.

A team with multiple or one late second-rounder could sign an up-and-coming receiver and throw a serious monkey wrench into the Cowboys' plans at the same time.

I'll let you know in 6 months. It's still early March for crying out loud.

I don't know about that, we talked to 4 WRs at the Combine

now I'm not sure that this is what Jerry wanted to do all along...

Hopefully Miles Austin can stay healthy, I really felt like he was going to surplant Crayton last year as the number 2 before the injuries.

Could you name the four? I didn't catch that around combine time. I did read about one of the penn st. guys.

Then why not tender Austin with a 1st rounder?

maybe they're gambling that teams won't go for him at that amount

but all indications beforehand makes releasing TO not look like a split-second decision
