Roy Williams

Some people don't have a clue.

Let's look at the Stevens TD. Williams was lined up inside in an attempt to disguise the coverage. He broke when Stevens made his break but no player in the NFL, heck no player in NFL history, has the speed to make up the difference. Great route, great throw, TD.

Williams gives up a scheme TD because Seattle's coaching staff scowered the film at halftime yet it's somehow Williams fault.

I have to disagree...I think Roy made a bad decision...he was still lined up outside of the TE at the line of scrimmage, but the WR started across on an inside route and Roy sat in his spot too long, hoping the QB would throw that slant and he'd step in...the CB was on the WR and Roy broke way too late on the TE...I think he got beat because he made a bad read there.

ON the 2nd TD, Roy is the deep guy...surely Brady James isn't expected to run with the TE 40-50 yards...Roy was late again.

He does some things well, and he makes big plays, but another poster mentioned that we don't have a LB who can cover a TE...hello to that guy...do teams cover Witten with a LB? Your Strong SAfety has to be able to cover the TE even if he can't run with the WR's.

Roy in coverage = TD. It's hard to blame Roy when the coaching staff puts him in a position he can't play.

Newman caused that INT. Roy was just standing there doing nothing like usual and the ball fell into his fat ***. Seriously, how many sacks does he get? How many missed tackles does he have every week? How many interceptions does he have where he jumps a route instead of having the ball thrown right to him? I want to know. I've seen every Cowboys game since DirecTV came out in 1994 and the people who say Williams is great, answer those questions above. This guy has been getting a free ride and living off his college career for way too long now.
Very aware of that however he did not make the INT Roy did. pretty simple.

screw the coverage, he can't even tackle anymore. Was that whiff # 8000 on Alexander today?

Williams is an enigma to be sure.

I've defended this guy for a while. I still don't think he's as "bad" as he's made out to be -- it almost seems like overkill an in attempt to make up for the hype occasionally gets.

But I've seen several on here say that it's not his fault he's being put in position to do things he can't (like cover deep, or hang with tight ends). But isn't this something commonly asked of strong safeties on occasion? I mean, what strong safety is never asked to cover? And even if they're not designed to cover (meaning, maybe we technically try to keep him down near the line), aren't teams smart enough to attack this critical weakness and force him into coverage situations?

Just seems like a huge weakness we're trying to cover. The guy can be a playmaker, and was among the better defensive playmakers for the first half of the season. But he's been invisible for a while, other than that relatively fluke interception tonight (though he did a great job on the play, keeping his feet down and what not).

I just don't know that we'll ever see a day -- regardless of team, scheme, coach -- where Roy isn't going to have to cover on ocassion. Seems like a weakness that can always be exploited if teams want to attack it.

Just can't "hide" stuff in this league for long.

he needs to work on his hips and weight too...his hips turn around too soon and thats when receivers and tight ends make double moves on him...he needs to keep back peddaling untill they (TEs WRs)make their break..their secondary coach obviously sucks! its the same with all dallas secodary Henry against Detroit did that too they commit to soon trying to make the INT...Terrence Newman is probably the only guy out their who knows how to cover out their...Roy Williams one of my favorite players but lately he's been made a mockery out there..hope he can get better...oh and his tackling has been bad since they made that horse collar rule..like if he's scared the league might make another rule against him or something

Well the good news is if Parcells stays and Zimmer goes Bowles is likely to be named the D Cordinator. Need another reason Parcells needs to leave?

Has anyone noticed his participation on field goals and extra points? He doesn't do anything. He just stands there and watches the ball fly over his head. Regardless of whether he has an impact or not, it still shows to me that his heart and head are somewhere else.

Darren Woodson covered the warts, then he got exposed. He just needs to get in shape, drop 10 pounds and work on turning his hips - easily correctable however he is a multi-million dollar pro bowl athlete so at this point we're stuck with his occassional big hits (haven't seen one in a while).
