There are a lot of people on this board that see something in Al Johnson. I don't know what they see, the guy is atrocious, I agree.

I supported the guy for as long as I could, he does nothing for me - or the team for that matter.

Not a fan.

Al Johnson doesn't have enough lead in his pencil. He needs to gain some wait and have a different attitude. The guy I am still with through these tough times on the o=line is Tucker. I thought he was solid filling in and would have taken over on the right side if Flo wouldn't have gone down. Rivera was always helping the rookie next to him out. That had to be tough to worry about him and his job at the same time. Rivera also had that injury in the pre season that set him back.

He was awful too.

Seriously, who was the worst one on the OL. You could make a case for Tucker, Rob, Rivera, and Johnson.

Larry Allen was no prize package either.

Pathetic.

One other thing I would like to see is a real O-Line coach. Maybe now that Mike Tice is available he should be brought in for the job. We have had the worse OL coach ever the past two years.

Actually, we have had bad Ol coaching since the Coslet days.

And I'm amazed that some people are so feeble minded that they read something the first week and then just keep repeating it to themselves until they believe it.

Al Johnson was not the problem with the OL. Pettiti had a really rough first year, Rivera never showed the same ability he did in Green Bay (maybe the injury, maybe signing bonus malaise), there are more plays when Allen doesn't touch a defender than when he does, Gurode had 3-4 mental breakdowns a series, Tucker isn't physically talented enough to play LT for an extended period, Campbell had a really down year, heck even Witten was so bad blocking that they'd leave K. Johnson in because he at least made an effort.

Pick any two games of the season, rewatch them, concentrating on whose defender made the tackle on any given running play. I think you'll be amazed at who was doing what consistently. I know I did and the only things I saw similar in both games was that alot of running plays that I initially blamed Pettiti on, I saw that it was really poor TE blocking and Allen stands around alot.

I wouldn't go so far as to say Al was not the problem, he had his share of bad moments. But the whole OLine was horrible and I put some blame on the coaching.

Let's put it this way Stanley. I rewatched numerous games this year as well. While Al Johnson is not solely to blame for the pathetic OL problems, he was a key ingredient.

You've made your point on this subject 5 or 6 times. We disagree on Al Johnson. Get over it.

The fact that Petitti, Rivera and the rest were absolutely horrible, does not excuse the fact that perhaps Al Johnson was mildly better. Not saying much.

They were all very bad, including Larry Allen at times, in fact, a lot of the time.

You seem to be alluding that I only blame Al Johnson. Not true.

There is blame across the board, including Al Johnson.

Do you happen to be related to Al?

Not gonna argue with that point. Off season moves can't start soon enough!

The problem with Al Johnson is that he can be manhandled by anyone 2 pounds heavier then a Cornerback. There are probaly at least 15 punters or kickers that could own Al Johnson.

Rivera needs to go to. Johnson and Rivera need to be gone. Wastes of roster spots.

Pettiti played pretty crappy this year but he is a rook and I would like to see if he can make some improvements next year. If we can get a better RT go for it. But I aint gonna give up on Pettiti yet.

I thought I was the only one that noticed that. But this has been happening all year long. It was unbelievablel when I would go back and watch the running plays and see Johnson 3 yards back field on every play.

BTW - on the other side of the ball, I was seeing teams push Glover (especially) and Ferguson way off the line. I thought Fergs was better than that.
We need C/NT/RT before we do anything else.

OLine
Lt - Adams
Lg - Gurode *or*Larry Allen
C - LeCharles Bentley *or* Ryan Cook 'New Mexico 6' 7"/316 lbs' (5th rd)
RG - Rivera *or* Gurode
RT - Marcus McNeill - Auburn 6' 9"/338 lbs *or* Daryn Colledge - Boise State 6' 5"/298 lbs
Dline
End - Spears
Dt - Ngata or Gabe Watson
End - Canty

Maybe some people actually know what they're talking about. I know, I should just jump on the latest scapegoat and ramble on aimlessly for months with no idea what I'm talking about.

Look, I'm not privvy to the linemen's actual assignment, but anyone with a basic understanding of line play can make an educated guess and Johnson has graded out higher (by me) than any other lineman over the games I've done so far. (I'll do a play by play analysis if you really want it) Does that mean he's "good", heck no, barely even "average", but if you listen to the Einsteins here you'd think he was the Anti-Christ and all faults with the offense can be traced to him.
