Cowboys cut TE Martin Rucker to make room for CB Frank Walker.

Good luck. He'll get picked up by someone.

I sure hate to see Rucker go, because I think he would be a great replacement for Bennett next year. The Boys should have gotten rid of one of the WR's, because it's not like they have any faith in any of them outside of Dez and Miles.

yup, he wont be unemployed for very long

Nope. And he won't clear waivers... no practice squad magic today I am thinking.

And Choice remains.

I think he'll clear waivers and end up on the PS personally, assuming he's eligible.

Should have kept Rucker, he seems better than Bennett from what I have seen. Giants are in need of a TE.

Even if he did clear waivers that doesn't mean he automatically ends up on the Cowboys practice squad. Another team can sign him to their 53 or to their PS after he clears waivers. Rucker may evaluate his options. Stay in Dallas where you have Witten, Bennett and Phillips or go to another team where you may have a better chance of seeing the field.

So is KC. Bennett can block much better than Rucker and that is what Dallas primarily needs from their back up tight end.

Is our 4th string TE really that incredible that there will be multiple waiver claims on him? I guess I'm trying to remember when he did anything to impress me even in the preseason. Now I'm first on the Bennett Is A Waste Of Space bandwagon, but I'm not ready to push all in on the Rucker Express either. Seems like each year Dallas could find a serviceable third tight end in post-draft free agency. I image the rue factor will be low on this transaction.

Hell, line up Sean Lee at TE...

I would sure like to see Bennett be a bit more reliable catching the ball. The guy drives me nuts with his drops.

Certainly, but not sure that Rucker has a choice while going through waivers. If a team picks him up, then that is that. AFTER he clears (which I doubt) it is a different story.

Am I wrong about this?

Yes, you are correct. If a team makes a waiver claim on him then he is theirs and goes on their 53 man roster. If he clears waivers then he is a free agent.

On The Cowboys Break yesterday, Josh Ellis said, "Why is Martin Rucker even on this team?"
