It the same as the sideline. You see people catch the ball out of bounds but their feet are in bounds. If part of your body has crossed the endzone and the ball is out of bounds it is a TD.

The goal line extends outside the pylon ONLY when the player is in the end zone. Dez has a foot in the end zone, and the ball is over the "goal line extended," so it's a touchdown.

If the player is not in the end zone, then the ball must cross the goal line inbounds.

Dez's feet are in the endzone so it doesn't matter if he's holding the ball out of bounds. As long as a players feet are in the endzone the ball doesn't have to cross the plane. If they toe tap in the back of the endzone and lean out of bounds to catch the ball, it's still a TD provided they have control of the ball.

In that case the ball is clearly across the goal line, isn't it?

His feet were in and in the video that was posted you could see the ball nip the pylon but as long as his feet were in the end zone it doesn't matter. Makes no difference where the ball is as long as both feet are down in the endzone. If a players feet aren't in the endzone then the "ball" has to break the plane of the goal line.

I think extending the goal line all the way around the world is overkill. :D
