Passing "rumors" along.....
Ebron doesn't look like a big thrill to me.
As for guys we should get for TE, I hope more of what Jarwin was in college - hybrid TE/FB/WR.
Similarly, though I get the feeling that Olawale has some mental/emotional issue that kept him from being used, I really liked the *concept* of him. A FB with hands and speed to go deep. Guys who can contribute both as blockers and as deep threats make for great complements to Zeke and the oline. Good size and speed to just take a handoff or dumpoff too.
Garrett always had the max protect philosophy for TEs/FBs, while I dislike having no-threat players on the field. If I really want blocking, I'd rather just put another olineman out there.
Speaking of which, I hope we see if any of our backup olinemen can run a 3 yard route and catch a ball. I hated seeing three meh TEs inline on jumbo packages. "Next interchangeable cog up." Ugh.
And if I'm going to have dump off blockers at FB/TE, I'll take one who can really block and looks to *pound* DBs instead of going down like a wet sack of potatoes a la Witten. Witten has annoyed me for years with his strolling out of bounds to avoid contact with DBs he had 60 lbs on. I want guys who will take that mismatch opportunity to *punish* DBs. Rico should have been this guy, but he thought he was too much of a Superstar to learn how to block.
So basically, the last thing I want is the Witten/Schultz meh blocking/meh receiving TE. And I want more than just a receiving TE who is nothing more than a big, slow WR. We had that in Escobar. I'd rather go with Pollard in the slot as a RB/WR. In the base, the TE, FB, Slot WR guys need at least two out of three in blocking, receiving, and running.
