Rumor: Cowboys interested in LaVar Arrington ***MERGED***

I wouldn't be worried about Arrington clashing with Owens.

I would be more worried with Arrington free-lancing and making mental errors.

I was just saying that Dallas can not afford to pick up two turds. They are already taking a chance on Owens, I don't know if they can take a chance on Arrington at this point. Besides, Arrington wants a boat load of cash. Dallas will probably pick up their OLBer in the draft.

Well Don Harris is pretty much the Spurs insider and like Dale mentioned breaks the news on TV regarding the return of the 'Boys to San Antonio for TC. I don't know how much juice he has regarding inside info with the 'Boys, but he does use the information from Tom Osborne from the SAEN.

I wouldn't dismiss this report though, remember the station from Lubbock was the one who broke the TO news, and stood by the story.

BTW I am all for Arington coming here. That would pretty much make our defense complete, IMO.

This would be awesome to pick up Arrington, and have TO get back at the Shegles and Arrington get back at the Deadskins.

The only teams that I have heard related to Arrington are the Giants.. who apparently aren't offering enough, the jaguars, the dolphins and the bengals.

But that's the problem with the Cowboys.. you don't hear about it until the deal is almost done and the guy is on a plane to texas for a workout or physical.

I'll try to look around for a report.. but this is the first time I've even heard it mentioned as a possibility.

Well if Jerry is as dead set on blowing up this team as the signing of Owens makes it appear then what better way to finish the job than to sign the second biggest headcase in the league in Arrington. In for a penny in for a pound as the old saying goes.

But I keep coming back to one thing. Isn't Arrington still in the Poston stable and we don't normally even talk to those guys.

BTW I am not as dead set against Arrington as I was (am) against Owens. Arrington is a LB and BP does seem to relate well to Linebackers. I'll buy the line that "BP can control him" about Arrington; I still don't buy it about Owens.

Did Arrington blow up the skins when I wasn't looking? The guy has been a probowler 3 out of 6 years according to my 2005 Lindy's. I know he has a reputation of freelancing a little, but he is at his best rushing the passer and the 4-3 defense he has been in doesn't allow much for that. He is a natural fit for our 3-4 and wouldn't need to freelance to get after the qb. Sign him up Jerry!

sorry to kill ya'lls dream, but LaVar would rather retire than play for Dallas

his toilet paper has little Dallas stars all over it

If you really believe money wouldn't change his tune you are hopeless.

he can get the money elsewhere without betraying who he is and who he will always be:
a Washingtonian

And if JJ decided to show him the money, he's be wiping his *** with 100 dollar bills.

The headcase factor is only pertinent if we are losing. Winning cures all. If we are winning then all of our headcases will behave. And right now, we are gambling on the idea that we are going to win big this year so I don't see the harm in adding another headcase especially a very talented headcase.

And let's not pretend we aren't gambling even if we didn't sign Owens. Do you really think going into the season with Drew Bledsoe and Drew Henson as your QB's is playing it safe. Please...we have been gambling for a while now

You're pretty naive.

If he is a 'Washingtonian' why did he pay his way out of his contract? And reportedly turn down a decent offer from the team?

This guy, like most guys in the NFL, are all about the money.

He didn't blow them up but he has beena distraction around there and has had some off the field issues. Nothing too serious but just enough to show that he has no class as a person; but the Cowboys don't care about that any longer. Like I said I don't have a big problem with getting Arrington he has a lot of upside and not nearly the downside of Owens.

Heck we got Haley when he was known as headcase in SF and he worked out great for us. We got Keyshawn when he was known as a headcase in Tampa and he worked out pretty well for a couple of years. We drafted Antonio Bryant when he was known as a headcase in college...oh wait...bad example. Anyway we have hit on some headcase signings and we have missed on some. Maybe we will hit on Arrington.

a descent offer from the Commanders is quite a HEFTY offer from any other team, wouldt you say.

lol. thats why he wanted to stay in the division to play the skins twice a year?

he idolized LT who played a 3-4 OLB under parcells.

lavar is going to the highest bidder period.
i'd say we are a small, small player in that.

We have the team killing receiver, drunk QB fightin' kicker, why not complete the trifecta with the freelancing coaching disrespectin' linebacker. :)

I thought he said somehthing like, he couldnt seem himself in a cowboy uniform but you never know?

U notice everyone we signing hates QBs

Since when has Arrington been such a bad guy in the lockerroom? His teammates loved him in Washington. Watch a game some time, they all gravitate towards him.

He played for two defenseive coaches before he had his contract situation in Washington ... Shotty, who called coaching him one of the highlights of his career. And Marvin Lewis, who is currently wooing him to come back to play for him. Yeah, sounds like a real nightmare to coach.

If the Cowboys had any contact at all with Peterson coming here, there's probably no doubt that they've also had talks to the Postons about Arrington. And personally I think the "We'll never bring in a Poston's client as long as Bill is here" talk to be a bunch of hooey. Why does Parcells care about who a player's agent is? Parcells doesn't have to negotiate a contract with them like he did with the Jets, Stephen Jones does. All Parcells has to do is coach the player. If Parcells was actively involved in contract negotations I don't think he'd be in Florida watching spring training games.
