Rumor from FSR last night

I don't know how he got info like this when there has been no talk anywhere of a Extension.

That does make sense. And that is why I am starting to question the Cowboys thoughts on Newman on the long term basis.

If we paid Ware like he should be paid, can we afford Newman with the current pay for CBs? Maybe it's a decision on who the Cowboys want more...Newman or Ware. I just don't see them being able to pay both "fair-market". I hope that it can be worked out. Like others have said, Newman getting a long term deal with it really being a 3-4 year contract.

I think Ware is long term; Newman short term.

Get Ware's contract done before the competition inflates it. Even a "monster" one by todays standards for young people of his caliber is likely to look like a steal in a few years.

But Newman's age makes a hefty long-term commitment at "monster" prices ill advised. He can be franchised until his successor is ready without incurring future dead money.

:)

IMO, there are only two guys on the team who you give really big money too. Romo and Ware. They are young and are your superstars of your team.

You use the draft to bring in guys to take over for aging veterans. You can not give everyone onf your players one of these outrageous contracts. If you do extend a players contract, you do when the player is young and performing at his peak, like Ratliffe.

By no means do you pay an aging player like Newman one of these outrageous contracts that CBs are getting. That's why getting Pacman and drafting two corners in the draft makes sense.

Here's a quick thought. If the Jones are thinking that Newman's contract demands might be a little too high for a thirty year old and they do indeed secure Pacman before the Draft, there is a guy in Miami that would love to have him via trade.
