Well Young is not a real QB his game does not translate to the NFL very well; This is a stupid rumor and a bad one at that

Dude how can you say that Vince Young's game does not translate into the NFL? Anyone who has that combination of athletism, big arm, and accurracy difintely has a chance. I'm not saying he is a sure thing, but he has a much better chance than Culter who ever one seems to be high on. I really do hope Leinhart is the first quarterback taken and Culter is the 2nd quarterback taken. This way young will slip and we can snag him.

Troy Smith would be a good Cowboy name:D

Only if he continues to progress in his passing skills. Brady Quinn would be of definate interest to me...

Young is a much better quarterback than Michael Vick coming out of college. I think Vince Young will be very comparable to Donovan McNabb with better accurracy. Young can make all the throws and can still move around a pick up extra yards. I think Vince Young will be a better quarterback than Eli Manning. I am sure that I'm in the minority, but I would trade Ellis, our first this year and our first next year to get Young.

And we all know how much it sucks to see McNabb convert a 3rd and 20 or some nonsense on us.

I'm telling you, Young is the king of clutch. He's so damn cool. This rumor isn't so ridiculously unlikely as some might think. Jerry has wanted a McNabb for some time now (look at Quincy). Sean Peyton having a love affair with Romo leads to the very real possibility that he might want to do some serious trading with us.

Troy smith to me is not a real nfl qb. Vince Young is. I wouldn't mind Brodie Croyle the more I see of him.

What's worse than Vince Young playing for the Tennessee Titans?

Try this on for size:

I have a friend who is in an 'intern' with the Dallas Cowboys. The whispers around Dallas indicate that Jerry Jones is trying to work a trade in order for the Dallas Cowboys to acquire the second pick in the NFL Draft from the New Orleans Saints. This has apparently leaked to the local Dallas media, and has been reported on the local Dallas news/sports TV and Radio shows.

On top of that, I also heard them talking about it on Sports Radio 610 today.

So, if you think that Vince Young playing for the Tennessee Titans would be bad, how about Vince Young playing for the Dallas Cowboys?

This sounds exactly like the kind of thing that the Dallas Cowboys would make a strong push for...
And sadly, the Texans will probably lose a lot of fans if this happens

Vince Young is the 2nd coming of Ron Mexico Vick. We have a top 5 QB already, why would Jerry Jones want to pursue this guy?????

Rumor has it done here in Houston that Jerry is interested in trying to trade up to the second pick of the draft to select Vince Young. Heard it on Radio Station 610 reported by John McClain who said that was what he heard. On the condition that the Texans would take Reggie Bush with the first pick. Sean Payton was a coach here and now he's the head coach of New Orleans. One would think that he and The Tuna are still on good terms. A trade. Why not? Jerry knows what that would mean to the Cowboys if that could happen. He'd have his quarterback of the future who could learn behind Drew Bledsoe for a year. Vince Young has everything you would want in a quarterback. This kid is a' franchise quarterback' He is the real deal. And Jerry knows he could make countless millions of dollars given the appeal of Young in the state of Texas. New stadium on the way also. I see continued sellouts to every home game and on the road also. A few more Super Bowl titles. Think about it. Sounds good to me if it's true. Jerry, do the deal if you're reading this post!!Anyone else hear anything on this?

McCain started this rumor to pus the Texans to select Young. He wrote an article stating he was gonna start the rumor.

Vince Young is very much the real deal and will be a top flight QB.

He is simply the best football player to enter the NFL in years. He is a very strong comparison to Ben R.

In the college skills competition he hit both throws during the obstacle course portion. Olden, Croyle and other supposedly pocket passers hit ZERO combined. Thats a 40 yard toss into a net which showed his accuracy on a deep lob style pass and then a 10 yard pass into a tight circle on the dead run.

Keep thinking he's Vick but we well forewarned that you are wrong. Vick isn't 6'4" plus and 240 plus pounds or anything close to it. If Jerry makes the trade up with say NO and hands over Glover, Ellis our 1st and our 3rd I'd cry tears of joy. I hate betting the farm on QBs but VY is the exception. Matt Lienart looks like just another Drew Bledsoe.

His throwing motion makes his ball look like a shot-put being thrown. He will have to be better in tighter coverage because I seen many of his games (yes I know his college #'s) but generally passes in tight coverage where erratic (yes he completed some) Generally his completed passes where to guys that where open by two miles and alot where all to wr in the middle of the field; you rarely saw out passes to the corners etc. His passes will most likely be knocked down at the line of scrimmage in the NFL. Then I question his drop back ability in the 3; 5 and 7 step drop backs because he will not have a shotgun formation on every play in the Pro’s.

He is a long strider and broke threw a lot of bad arm tackles he runs very up right he is not as agile or uick as Vick or have that great change of direction like Vick he is big and strong. While in the NFL he is going to take big shots because he runs up right the speed in the NFL will negate his running style and he will not be able to over power guys in the NFL like he did in college running the ball.

Athletic or not I just do not see his game translating to the NFL very well and which ever team drafts him will have to work on his throwing mechanics and footwork (the throwing mechanics worry me). Vince is the product of over hype IMO and a great college QB does not make a great Pro QB. I stand by it and I will not change my mind Vince is an overrated Pro prospect and if he does become a great QB in the NFL I will be suprised and do not give me Mcnair or Dante because both those guys came from passing offenses in college (Air McNair) and had good throwing motions

It would take more than two vets and a first and third. It would probably take another first.

This would mean, bare minimum, at least three seasons of losing football. One, this season, because we basically killed our entire draft for one player. Then the next two seasons with Young trying to learn how to play QB in the NFL.

I'd do it.

They give us - #2 and #34 overall picks this year
We give them - #18 and #50 overall picks this year. Our First Round pick next year. And their choice of Glover, Ellis, Romo, and Henson----or all four as far as I care. Although I would like to keep Romo if possible, just too bad of the 4 players he's the one Sean would probably want most of all.

The only question that reallyl needs to be pondered is whether or not Parcells would open this upcoming offseason to a true open-competition between Young and Bledsoe, best man winning. Or would Parcells suck and continue his bias towards his former players, even if Young was close to being ready.

Another question is whether if Young was close to Bledsoe but not quite there yet, would that be close enough for him to start over Bledsoe this year or does he sit for a year or two before we ever see him? Because you have to figure if Young is close, it's all uphill from here for him, compared to the steep slope of degression Bledsoe is entering into in the twilight of his career. And I would rather take one step backwards this year in order to take 3 steps forward the year after as the team and our new QB mesh together.

First off, let me say that I highly doubt this rumor has any legs, but for arguement's sake, I'll give my opinion.

Depending on what we do in free agency, I don't think it would have that bad of an impact for next season. It's no secret that we're going for broke this season. It's Super Bowl or bust.

We're going to have to do something to get a legitimate quarterback in line to succeed Bledsoe. I'd rather make the move while we have expendable pieces (i.e. Glover and Ellis) than to either wait until we suck so bad that we'll have a low draft pick or sign a castoff veteran quarterback.

Unless Romo or Henson are going to step up and be our guy, it's going to take a high price to get a good quarterback in Dallas after Bledsoe leaves.

By making this move now, we'd be able to get Young in Dallas and let him sit behind Bledsoe for a season or two and that would enable us to have as little college-to-pro transition as possible.

Bledsoe is the QB in Dallas for 2006 with or without VInce.

IF this happens then Vince will sit for 2006 and Probably 2007 behind Bledsoe.

IF we make it far in the playoffs but come up short of the SB then NO WAY will Vince Young or any other young QB start in 2007. Being that close Bledsoe will come back for his final year in Dallas in 2007 and try to make one more run.

THen Vince Young wouls take over in 2008.

That is the scanario for Vince Young in Dallas or ANY young QB that would potentially get drafted this year.

Thats fine if Bledsoe can beat out Young in training camp and not be given the job by Parcells. I would rather have Vince Young at 25 replacing Bledsoe with the above scenario then a 29 year old Romo or 29 year old Henson with no experience.

I agree. I just think we would have to give up a lot to get him and I'm not sure that would be a good idea.

Get the feeling he's on a mission to defend Bledsoe's honor? :)
For almost a year before we acquired Bledsoe he's talked about little else. He was the original Drew Bledsoe badwagon driver before anyone else. Every time there's a new QB being discussed I swear I picture him as practically frantic that Bledsoe is not worshipped.
