Nothing Official, no news stories, I just wanted to share this story with you guys, my brother just called me from Los Cabos and told me he played golf with Mike Shanahan (they supposedly have a friend in common, that´s why they played together) Shanny has been living there since he got fired, anyway he told my brother it´s a done deal and will be introduced next Monday January 4th.
By the way and more important to me, my brother told me his going to a dinner tomorrow night where Troy Aikman is supposed to be, he needs to send me pictures in order for me to beleive him but his friend assured him of that.

Take it for what it´s worth, but if the Cowboys end up firing Wade we can forget about Shanahan.

I'm not real happy the Redstinks are getting a decent coach.

It won't be Monday

More like January 8th :)

Monday Joe Bugel will retire. They'll let him have the limelight for a day

Tuesday Zorn is fired

Wednesday an announcement on Shanny, Thursday the PC

And seeing that Snyder and Shanny were hanging out in Mexico in February, your brother is legit

It may very well be but that´s what he told him.

A decent coach who hasn't won a playoff game in a decade.

It had to be said.

Yeah, they did great with Marty Schottenheimer and Joe Gibbs. :laugh2:

Who won a single divisional title once Elway retired.

Needed to be said too.

January 2006 was a decade ago?

Has he won one? If he has, I stand corrected. Thought I heard a stat that he hasn't won a playoff game in forever.

Either way, his teams have swooned in December and haven't had much playoff success of late, no?

All the reason I haven't wanted him to come here. Talk about a marriage from hell, considering our recent past mirrors it.

If things hit the fan and Wade is fired, I'd rather have Gruden anyway. Shanahan is a good coach, but his system would require some major overhaul of our team, and we don't quite need that.

The Broncos beat the Pats in the divisional round in January 2006 (ending their 2 time Superbowl run) before losing to the Steelers in the AFC title game.

Then he went and drafted Cutler and essentially started building his next version of the Broncos (post Plummer) until he got fired.

I am not expecting a Superbowl. I am just looking to get competitive again by 2012 and go from there.

I think Shanahan can do that. I'll worry about playoffs and such when we get there

Well if that is true, the Monday Shanny goes on my hate list. Right now he's on my I wish he was here list.

I'm fickle that way.

:suxskins: And may they forever stay that way!

Yeah, my previous qualms aside, I think he's definitely a step in the right direction if the franchise makes a full commitment to his approach.

You think there's any chance Campbell comes back?

JC comes back only because he can't go anywhere as a restricted FA, unless someone gives the Commanders a stupid offer.

2.9 million to tender JC at a 1st and 3rd. So he'll be back as the "stop gap"

Bradford drafted as Shannahan's QB of the future, and will stay on the sideline until the o-line is rebuilt via many draft picks and via mid level FA's.

I'd expect next year to be another year like this 4-6 wins maximum. Improve by 2-4 games in year 2, and start to compete for a playoff spot in year 3 and go from there

Gruden won't get out of broadcasting.

So it is down to Les Miles and Bob Stoops?

Amazing.

Gruden would definitely be a better choice for us.

My biggest concern with Shanahan and the Commanders is all the cut blocking that will be going on.

Yup. Its borderline legal and a ***** to play against. Injuries will occur.

Georgia Tech uses the cut blocking technique, which destroyed the ankles of John Graves (one of Virginia Tech's best DTs) He wasn't the same the rest of the year.

From a Commanders perspective, I welcome it. It'll give the o-line some edge, and something opposing d-lineman in the NFCE will have to think about everytime they play the Commanders

hey - if jones is a coach killer, snyder rapes and pillages them when he's done killing them. it's yet to matter who the coach is, don't see why it would now.

I was about to write the exact same thing.
