penalty and loss of draft picks i believe. Their can't be trade talks between the pats and carolina, as Peppers didn't sign his franchise tag which adds trickyness to the whole scenario. dont be so quick to pass verdict

This sounds like an odd rule. Why can't Carolina discuss trading Peppers just because he's yet to sign the offer sheet?

I don't doubt you that it's accurate. It's too odd a rule to have been made up.

Can't see how this rule would benefit the team or the player.

Since the player hasn't signed his offer, you'd think he'd welcome a trade.

I want to see if Spencer can play full-time across from Ware..I could see him getting 7-9 sacks this year.

he's gotta get more physical. I was watching the 2nd Commanders game from last year and he was awful. his tackling was terrible and he gave up on plays before they were over.

Belichick denied that they were talking to Carolina - which would be illegal. So if NE isn't talking (which they are) it must be Dallas because they are also a 3-4 team.

Total BS circle.
Peppers is still a FA, he can talk to whomever he wants, but that team must forfiet 2 first round picks if they sign him

If Peppers had ended up a UFA, Jerry would have made a serious push to sign him. Peppers wants to come here. I have my doubts that Jerry would make a move for him now that he has been tagged. I would love it though.

If we only still had Dexter Coakley, add him in a package deal.

I still dont think we'd be interested, simply because Ware's situation isnt resolved yet and Jones has said all along that is his absolute #1 priority. And Ware is a far better player than Peppers is.

It's a major gamble for any 3-4 team to sign Peppers to a mega deal and put him at OLB.

Yes, I'd give up Dexter Coakley and a 4th for Julius Peppers.

I agree.

It would take compensation for the Panthers, huge compensation for Peppers himself, and with the questions about a position change, along with his inconsistant effort and productivity, I think that's too many chances to take for what might look good on paper.

In my opinion, the Panthers will be 'stuck' with Peppers this season, the Patriots will turn their attention toward signing Jason Taylor for no draft compensation, and the Cowboys will give Spencer the chance to sink or swim and use a draft pick on another OLB this year.

If Carolina gives him permission to talk to other teams there can be talks otherwise it's illegal. Unless it's Dan Synder. :laugh2:

Actually he hasnt signed his tenure yet so his agent is allowed to pursue trade talks. Teams arent allowed to contact him but he and his agent can contact them according to the NFLN.

That said no way can we afford Ware and Peppers, aint happening.

Thats how I see it too.

And I think Spencer is going to be our breakout player this yr and get 8-10 sacks.

Is this before or after Greg Ellis' whinefest about being benched? Enquiring minds want to know how Spencer will react to being taken to "the woodshed" for his activities this offseason.

Unlike Bennett, I don't recall Spencer being disciplined by the team or the league in any way. Maybe it's forthcoming.
