RG is hoping that they upset the Panthers primarily due to the contributions of Gregory and Rico.

Then suspending them will eliminate his Cialis expenses for the rest of the season.
I love any RG conspiracy angle. It enhances the drama.

The bummer is that I've been backing our RG since he got picked.

I updated my post.

Adam Schefter is choosing his words vert carefully, almost implying that a suspension may not happen because the league is being more lenient.

Something to note. He’s close to league sources. He didn’t have to go into details about how the league is choosing to go different avenues other than suspensions.

Could explain Randy’s visit to the NFL before the Texans game.

The bad news is Randy may have slipped up again— he has a long term substance abuse issue and he, and the Cowboys FO have all defined it as a “daily battle.”

The good news is that the NFL is having to examine its own disciplinary protocols. They basically offer zero support to an addict and life is just not that black and white. These are human beings and each case needs to be weighed and considered. The NFL’s inconsistent applications of its own rules and policies is hypocritical and alarming.

IMO— with the CBA looming the NFL is going to have to try to get ahead of these issues bc the NFLPA is going to absolutely fight them over player discipline in the next round of discussions. Everyone stands to lose a whooooole lot of money unless some stuff changes— so I think we are starting to see a different tact from the league office— and Shefter is being given some leash to leak this out as a PR move.

Jerry's g.m. genuis coming to full fruition. Won't be surprised if a series of unfortunate circumstances were to befall Jaylon Smith now, and retrospect just shows signing him to be another dumb move.

Fortunately, the Cowboys FO went through the draft and offseason with the knowledge that there was a good chance he wouldn't be available for 2018, so I'm sure they planned for this contingency.

With 4th round pick Dorrance Armstrong, so relieved.

Lol

They did nothing about this the TE position and safety. Too busy trying to get new advertisers and events at the "staydium".

Meanwhile the Eagles have a whole metrics team working to build on top of their strengths while keeping a Keen eye on the future.

The regular season kicks off for the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, and when it does they’ll have defensive end Randy Gregory at their disposal for the first time in quite a while.

Could Sunday be the last we see of Gregory for some time, potentially ever? Those thoughts are definitely starting to creep into place as ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Sunday morning that Gregory relapsed in August and that the NFL could discipline him as early as this week.

Dallas Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory, who will play in his first regular-season game since 2016 on Sunday, suffered a substance-related relapse last month that the NFL could rule on as early as this week, league sources tell ESPN.

Right before the Cowboys’ third preseason game against the Cardinals came to a close, a report surfaced that more trouble “could be ahead” for Gregory, and it would stand to reason that this is the aforementioned potential trouble. Randy has done an immense amount of work to get back to the playing field, but a relapse would obviously have the potential to derail all of it.

Perhaps the initial report was correct in the wording though, specifically in the world “could.” Schefter notes that the NFL, surprisingly, has become more tolerant of drug violations, especially among players who have dealt with addiction issues as Gregory has noted he has.

Most of the stories on this are highlighting the league's focus on rehab over suspension. That suggests the league sources are already planting a narrative here.

Addicts relapse as part of the recovery process. The league seems to be better understanding that now and weighing whether a single slip up should leverage a lifetime ban.

This should not be surprising. If he slipped during his AWOL period it would take a little time for any failed test to surface and then it has to go through the appeals process. If was never going to be an overnight ruling.

Time was always going to tell if that original “click bait” tweet would amount to anything, but too many people are quick to dismiss it or believe it without keeping an open mind and let the situation play out.

We should approach this with an open mind until we get the final decision.
