RUMOR: Roy Williams for Roy Williams swap after June 1?

Here's a spin:

If you were GM, would you trade our Roy and Ellis for their Roy Williams?

Just something to ponder......
Ellis, yes. Both no. Roy for Roy, no.

Too rich for my blood, and too much compensation for a guy you might be getting free and clear a year from now. There's no real SS behind Roy, and we don't know if Spencer is the real deal yet.

Surprised you would.

I thought you really liked both Roy and Ellis.

But it seems like the Lions 'D" could use both of those guys.
I do, but Ellis is old and we have Spencer to replace him. Hamlin could easily switch over to SS.

It would certainly make me stop and think.

It depends on how much faith you have in brown/watkins.

Whether or not you think your going to get Hamlin resigned.

And if you think Greg just had his last great year

Depending on the cap hit (hello Adam?), the trade might help the Cowboys to sign Hamlin long-term.

I'd also have to factor in what the Cowboys feel they have behind Spencer at OLB. 2 great players are nice, 3 are better.

But you're not thinkin about the S position. We dont know what we have behind Roy. We have a starter in Spencer to replace Ellis, we have a 5th, and a 7 round draft pick to back up Roy. and until Hamlin is resigned, S is a position i just don't think we'll be dealing.

In a heartbeat.

I would too.

Shefter talked like we might trade for Taylor. I know there's some major speculation here but:

Ellis and Williams for Williams
We use one of our extra third/fourth picks from next year + player for Taylor.

It is very unlikely.....But maybe.. Nah.....

Anyway, we'd have quite a hole at safety. The coaches would have to have major faith in Brown or Watkins to make this work. Or....they may think that our top five CBs would be enough....

when a writer begins a sentence with "could a..?" it shouldn't even get the respect of being called a rumor.

Well the 'boys are a little light on experience at WR, but have major depth at linebacker...and could probably get by with a signed Hamlin and the younger safeties.

I don't know that I'd make that trade in a heartbeat, but I'd certainly think hard about it, cuz the WR Roy has had injury concerns.
I think Watkins is ready for primetime personally.

Anyone who wouldn't trade Dallas burnt toast for Detroit prime rib is an idiot.

no way man. it's not like the new Roy's 60-70 catches 1,000 yards and 10 tds will replace the old Roy's 92 tackles. and spencer is a bust.

spencer is a bust?

you usually this premature?

Well if we did trade Roy and Ellis for Roy.....

WR: TO, Roy, Glenn, Crayton, Stanback, Amendola/Hurd/Austin

DE: Canty, Spears, Bowen, Hatcher, Dixon
DT: Ratliff, Tank
OLB: Ware, Spencer, Walden, Rogers, Robertson
ILB: Thomas, James, Carpenter, Burnett
CB: Newman, Henry, PacMan, Jenkins, Scandrick
S: Hamlin, Watkins, Brown, Davis, Ball

The Loins are a Tampa-2 defense, so why would they trade for our Roy Williams

It'd give Millen an excuse to draft a WR in the first round.

And it would actually be something he's done that hasn't thrown his job into jeopardy.
